To cut a long story short I am soon going to be eligible for the Motability scheme (cancer of the hip, full amputation of right leg the only way to get rid of it) Initially I thought about the Alfa 159 (especially in black) but to be honest the closest dealer (for Motability) is Reading which is too far away really.

Had a look at the weekend at a Mini Clubman and was really impressed. Anyone on here got one ... opinons please?

unless you need the space the standard mini is more fun to drive over the clubman and it can be made quicker to boot.

Yes, we've got one.

We very reluctantly sold our hatchback Mini last year after the birth of our second child when it became obvious that it just wasn't big enough to accomodate a baby and a toddler and all the gear that both require.

My wife is ecstatic with her new Clubman and I like it more than I thought I would - the driving dynamics, to my modest ability, are indistinquishable from the hatchback Mini - the same brisk, if not amazing straight line perfermance, go-kart handling, quick direct steering and brilliant turn in - some of the reviews say the Clubman is more stable at speed due to the longer w/base but I couldn't tell the difference - and it's big enough for 2 small kids and all that goes with them.

It's certainly a niche product aimed at people for whom the ordinary Mini just isn't big enough - it would be difficult to justify the higher price over the hatch on any other grounds and whilst the looks are growing on me, particularly the rear doors, it can still look a bit out of proportion from some angles.

If you like the Mini concept and if given your personal circumstances a hatchback Mini isn't suitable but the Clubman would be, I would recomend it.
