Anybody changed their run flats for 'normal' tyres - Yoko A358's (205 45 17). I'm about to but thought I'd check to make sure I'm not making a big mistake.

Not done it but heard of a few people that did it, and they all rave about how much better it goes ! Handles better, rides better...etc. Just need a can of tyre weld and a pump encase you get a puncture.

Only downside...if you try to trade car into a mini dealer they will subtract the cost of 4 new run-flats off trade in value, they will not put a car of forecourt with non-run flats.

Thanks Fergie
Apparently Asda are selling tyre weld on special offer for £2 !!!
Will be buying them tomorrow so will let people kmow what I think in a few days of useage.

Not looking to sell shouldn't be a problem. They are about half the price of run-flats..

Think I will also be dumping run-flats when the present lot wear out, hate how hard it makes the car ride. Which reminds me I need to swap front tyres to back so they all wear out at same point smile

Then just look for the genuine mini pump and goo...appear now and again on ebay.

Had the new tyres fitted this morning. So far they feel little different to the run flats but give a slightly softer ride but it is marginal. Car runs a bit quieter too. No problems at all with tyre pressure sensor or anythink like that which I'd feared.

Best bit is that they cost me £263 inc fully fitted for quality performance tyres. Just need to get to Asda to pick up some of that £2 Holts tyre weld puncture repair spray.

Hi Bazza.

Can I ask where you got your tyres from?

No-one wants to change mine for me. Been to all the major places and a couple of online ones too. They gave me a range of excuses as to why they won't do it.

I've just looked, and you're in London, so it won't be a local place for me !!
But, was it a national type place, or a local place?

cheers

It was at Bracknell Tyre 01344 890583. They're very good.

Had a quick 30 mile drive this morning (very early) and would HIGHLY recommend a change to 'normal tyres' - quieter, smoother ride and loads of grip.

Its a no brainer.

Cheers Bazza.

Hmmm, Bracknell would be a 400 mile round trip.

Surely there must be someone around here. Well, I'm off to find one.

There is a place in Doncaster (D&D Tyres 01302 874707) where the girl on reception asked me why I was keeping the run flats on my mini because she had changed hers to non run flats. They are a local garage and a bit back street style but really cheap. I know loads of people who go.

I only kept them cos it saves me worrying about thw wife driving on the motorway and having a puncture or blowout. Only needed 1 anyway in 15k miles but need another 2 soon. Paid £103 for the run flat.
