Hi Guys,

A friend of mine has a 2005 Mini Cooper 1.6 and is noticing the steering wheel vibrating / shuddering when braking from speed. The vibration seems to get more noticeable relative to the braking forces.

We think it'll be warped discs that are the cause however the car's been down to the main stealers and they're reccomending a wheel alignment for £180 plus checking the trye pressures more regularly!

Anybody and suggestions what may be the cause as I thought wheel alignment would be unlikely??

I'm no mechanic by any means but assumed it'd be warped discs or a sticky caliper possibly?

Thanks

Michael, agree with you, other possibility, but more unlikely given year are the ball joints.

brakes can warp, but it could also be the front wishbone lower bushes theres wear out very quickly on the mini can throw the brakes off quite badly dont bother having the stock ones replaced get thinkmini.co.uk or 1320 autos to fit superflex ones
