Hiya all,

I have signed myself up to part exchange my Fiesta ST for a 54 plate mini cooper S works.

Please don't shoot me and telling me to use the 'search' function, but everytime I do I'm struggling to find anything more than the current JCW.

I don't suppose anyone can point me in the direciton of a decent review of it?

Also, will I find it progression from my Fiesta which handled brilliantly!

Cheers!

Evo ran one as a 'long termer' and all of the back-issue reviews are on their website. I think they also have a couple of normal reviews on there as well.

Oh and congratulations on the purchase BTW. smile

Thank you Mat!

Another question for you, the works mini used to be 197 bhp, do you know when this got upgraded to the 210 bhp version? The Car dealer website states that it's the 210 bhp one, but I just want to make sure.

Cheers!

I can't remember when they upped the power, but i'm guessing it was when they facelifted the car.

If yours is pre-facelift (ie 197 bhp), mini do an upgrade to bring it to 210 for £335. That shouldn't affect your warranty either if it's a car from mini's cherished scheme.

As its a 54 plate (i.e. Sept 04 onwards) yours will be a facelift Cooper S...

Thus it will have the 210 bhp Works kit wink

Differences between the 200 and the 210 kit are the airbox, 380cc fuel injectors and different mapping.

Facelift MINIs also have revised gear ratios, making it a bit quicker off the line smile

Nice purchase dude. I have had my JCW for a week now... and loving every moment. Had a Clio 182 before which was definately better in the bends and on the brakes but nothing a few choice mods wont sort on the Mini. The pace is absolutely amazing through the gears and pulls strongly even in 6th gear.

A little bit juicer under normal driving conditions but massively jucier when giving it beans. Mine is a March 04 plate, which was 200 bhp, but the previous owner had the 3rd service done and also paid the £455 inc vat for the upgraded airbox, injectors and re flash of the ecu.

If the car is 210 from new, you should have a JCW certificate signed and stamped by the dealer (look out for a purchase receipt to back it up so you know its legit). I had another certificate to show the extra 10bhp upgrade was done with purchase receipt.

What spec did you get... mine has everything bar the jcw brakes and navigation. Sparco Tuner seats are awesome if you have them.

Here are a couple of piccys...

jay your mini looks superb...:-)

The new mini is really growing on me at the moment and if I need to downsize I think it may be on the shortlist.

jay, I have to agree with jon- that is a lovely looking car!

Mine gets the usual chilli pack and everything apart from the seats I think. It's a cracking little car, and I have to admit that it feels genuinley fast. I went for a quick drive yesterday and it is trying it's best to make me loose my license. I also thought that my fiesta st was the quickest thing going on the twisty parts, but I feel that I've got more confidence in the mini to take corners faster.

Oh yeah, I think it is the facelift one with 210 bhp as apparently the older ones don't have steering wheel controls where this one does, so I'm much happier now

mine has the multi function wheel as well, it was an optional extra... as is everything on these cars lol... they even make a big thing about there being a rain sensor, my 182 had that as standard.

got another interior piccy for you to compare. i think you have a 3 piece dash and mine is the 5 piece.

That really is a great looking car. It looks so mean!

So, are the JCW changes available as upgrades to an existing model? I have a standard '54 Black II Cooper S and wouldn't mind a bit more power...

Out of interest, what tyres are you running?

Get Yoko's as they make the JCW soooo much better than the awful runshats ! No Joke!
plus they are cheaper and way superior day to day.

Im running Dunlop SP01 DSST 205/40/18 but as said the ride is a bit bumpy with them. What Yokos are you reffering to JCWUK, I was thinking of trying Michelin PS2 next time around as had good experiences with PE2's.
