Posting this on behalf of my sister who has a 55 plate Cooper S Convertible.

She's had it about 6 months and it's done about 50,000 miles.

Now, there have been a few things gone wrong with it, that perhaps you wouldn't expect from a 'premium' manufacturer.

It seems to spend a lot of time at the local BMW dealer.

1. Windscreen seal needed replacing
2. Door check-stay thing needed replacing
3. Oil Leak
4. Clutch gone

All these are covered under warranty, but if it happened in 6 months time, the bill would be £1500.

My question is whether these are common problems, I wouldn't expect these things to happen at the current age of mileage. Anyone else had bad experiences like these? Is there anything we need to get looked at, which could go wrong at this age whilst its currently at the dealer?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Not had any of those problems, other than the clutch - squeeking noise which has been discussed on this forum.

How come they replaced your clutch under warranty? Which dealer was it?

Yes they are all common, but the parts now fitted should tbe the modified versions.
