You couldn't get a more varied amount of conflicting information in one thread. Jeez.
Totally agree, its a right mess of a thread.

But the answer is that there was a R53 factory JCW.

The dealer will be able to clarify if the starter of the threads car came with the kit fitted at the factory from the original spec sheet, and they will also be able to print this out if they want confirmation.

Insurance companies struggle with R53 JCW's and classifying them due to the fact of it also being a dealer modification, and variations between insurance companies where some list it as a model of car like the One, Cooper and Cooper S and some list it as a modified car, its not a clear answer to give, even when you give the right answer.

Been there myself, with having owned a JCW cabrio, which confused some of them even more

I found budget were good for me on my JCW for a number of years, but have now swapped to admiral on the GP with a multi car policy which halved my costs wink

Obviously if you read the post, you would see its 2006, so yes old shape, and yes this will be an add-on. The only factory JCW cars are r56 08 onwards.

hehe

Incorrect, the JCW kit was offered factory fitted towards the end of the life of the R53 from end of 2005, the price was £3500 premium over the MCS but this included the brakes unlike the dealer fit kits which were without.

V5's can lie!!!!!

My BMW was described as a convertible when it should be a coupe and I have had at least 3 other cars or bikes with description errors over the years.

I have just written to DVLA explained it and they have sent me a new V5.
