Like these!
Good looking seats those. Is it a company car? How do you find the electronic diff compared with the standard mechanical one?

Whats your car on now? Any problems with it?

I blew the budget slightly to get something with low miles and the lsd so the mods may have to wait until the wallet recovers!

What would you recommend as a first mod?

My car is on 53,500ish miles now and counting biggrin I've only had two problems, those being a dud Air Bypass Valve and a similarly useless Crank Pulley. Both of which were replaced very quickly under the MINI Cherished warranty smile

I don't blame you for going over budget to get a car of that mileage, it should be like new... just run-in infactbiggrin

As for the first mod, it depends where you want to start.

Performance - A pulley for £200-300 fitted should give at least 20bhp.
Exterior - Chrome mirrors, Silver Viper Stripes... there's lots that could be done for £100ish biggrin
Sound - An induction kit such as my JCW one, for around £150 second hand, will still keep the OEM look but give a much louder soundtrack.
Handling - OMP or JCW Strut braces will make a noticeable improvement to handling and cost about £60 - £150 biggrin

I'm not pretending to be some sort of MINI genius, I'm just talking from my experience. I'm on a fair few MINI forums and things where the list of potential mods can grow alarmingly quickly tongue out

Lovely looking Mini, I miss mine sooo much!! You will never ever tire of that noise from the s/c and the handling is amazing! As for the seats I covered 22,000 miles in mine in just under 12 months, never had any complaints with the seats. The Astra sporthatch I'm driving now is a totally different story, the seats are appauling and my back is not what it used to be!

One thing though, the pic next to the "your Mini adventure starts here" sign, the suspension looks very high, from what i remember mine sat alot lower than that on a standard setup.

If your looking to do any mods I can highly recommend GTT, I had a reduced s/c pulley fitted and a JCW airfilter, made a hell of a difference to the noise and the performance! Had it rolling roaded soon after and it made 193bhp!

PS, best colour as well, get some black stripes for the bonnet and chrome mirror covers, they really set it off.
Cheers. I've got some plans for subtle upgrades in the future but its only just turned 7k miles so i'll enjoy it as standard for a bit.

Think that picture is on a slope hence the 4x4 suspension!

Can you remember roughly what your upgrades cost? I've heard great results from pulley and manifold upgrades.
From what I remember the pulley (17%) and reduced drive belt cost me about £150 from GTT. Due to the distant GTT were away from me I got the pulley fitted by a company called Lohen, they charged about £200 but I also had the aero grill conversion as well so just fitting the pulley would have been less. Only problem is I think GTT stopped doing it this way soon after, the guy there decided that he didn't want anyone else fitting his kit (understandable) so you have to go direct to GTT now to have the pulley done.

One thing I would recommend is, and it's mentioned many times on Mini2 is that if you do mod anything then only use super unleaded. I found out to my cost when mine broke down, the guys on Mini2 were convinced it was all down to me putting just 1 tank of normal unleaded in it and that I had really ruined the engine (I couldn;t see it myself but they were the experts!) It turned out to be a dodgy coil pack in the end but still scared the st out of me!

I had my pulley fitted by Lohen too. They aren't toooo far from me, but far enough to ensure that I don't go pestering them every weekend biggrin

I know how you must have felt when yours broke down. When my air bypass valve broke the whole car conked out at about 60mph under hard acceleration. Luckily I found a side road to roll into, but it was certainly a scary momentbiggrin

I'd definitely recommend sticking with super unleaded. When I changed from whatever was cheapest, I thought there was a slight noticeable improvement in response and smoothness. That was when my car was standard, now I don't even consider cheaper stuff.... but what difference it truly makes I don't know.

What brand of super unleaded did you use? Did changing to regular fuel make any difference to the performance or mpg?

I used Shell Optimax as there was a shell garage just around the corner. To be honest I never noticed any difference between normal and super, it just felt better putting super in as "thats what I was advised was best for it". I never ever worked out the MPG on the MINI, I was too scared, and I didnt have the computer on mine so not sure if it made any difference.

Why do they always break down in the worst possible place, I was on a major roundabout, in the inside lane, had to push it out of the way in front of rush hour traffic rolleyes

This was mine;

You can see the aero grill conversion on the front done by Lohen. Basically its the grill from the aero body kit but made to fit where the standard grill went without having to go for the whole kit, I thought it looked much better than the standard grill!

I use Sainsburys Super Unleaded as it seems to be the best balance between price and quality.. plus it is just down the road from me.

I did have a MINI One Convertible tuned to around 130bhp and religiously only used V-Power with that... but times have changed... fuel prices have gone up... so I just stick to Sainsburys Super these dayslaugh

Luckily my car hasn't got a trip computer, so I don't know exactly what sort of (probably scary) mpg I'm getting with either fuel. Having said that I don't think there has been a noticeable difference. Literally the only difference I felt was a slight improveness in response and smoothness... Saying that the only real benefit has been a clean conscience that I'm giving my car something more healthy for it, especially now that it's tuned a little.

Like Maty says, I'm glad I don't have an on board computer as the mpg figures I get seem pretty scary. By my maths I get around the high 20's on a mixed cycle. An induction kit is the worst mod ever for mpg, that whine gets addictivebiggrinlaugh

Looking very nice mate! You're right, that aero grill conversion suits your car very well, especially with the black bonnet stripescool Did you do any other mods?smile

Here are a few pics of me and some friends trip to Lohen the other week..

It was going to be an early car, then a facelift, then a facelift with a lsd, then a low mileage facelift with a lsd. Only gp insurance at 23 stopped it turning into financial ruin!

Now its team dynamics alloys, jcw strut braces/recaros/airbox/exhaust, an alta pulley, gp intercooler, a brembo bbk, carbon trim...I blame people like you! biggrin

Not that you buy a mcs for mpg but i've reset my computer daily to see what it gets (sad i know) and it's about 34-36 combined with 45 on a motorway cruise and 9 when (testing the diff while) exiting wet roundabouts.

God its fun.

Go for the GTT one, or the Alta one is quite good apparently!

I'm looking into these just now as well. Sounds like the sealed units perform better due to the temperatures in the engine bay which is why so many people go for the JCW airbox with an ITG filter.

Alta one is ok if its got a lod, the gtt one looses power aganist a stock airbox with dirty airfilter,
