Whats the breakdown of this if you don't mind me asking?
[/quote]

It's all pretty much here:

smile

If you want any specifics, just ask.

Would be great if you could give a brief summary of each upgraded part, how you rate them, if you'd buy them again etc.

Particularly interested in the brake kits you've tried.

Cheers.

Brembos, simply Awesome.
As for just upgrading the pads, it's a good stop gap, but TBH the standard sliding caliper design is hateful, for rear wheels it's fine but fronts yikes

As yours is an 06, the supercharger isn't worth doing as you've already got it.

But really if you want to go for power, get the pulley done, but go for a 15% because with a 17% you need an intercooler and bigger injectors.

As for a manifold, if you want one get a janspeed one, but they're loud and not out the back more so in the cabin, when mated to a janspeed cat back as on mine, you get this kind of result:

Pre manifold, as per vid spec
MINI Tunnel Run
Post manifold as per vid spec
MINI Tunnel Run V2

One thing that doesn't convey well is the volume, in the first video it peaks no louder than 105db, but it's more like 120db in the second video.
That's my car btw.

Remaps aren't worth it until you start changing injectors etc as the standard ECU is very good at adjusting.

As for an intercooler, go with GRS, Graham is simply awesome, nothing can touch his intercooler, i'm currently seeing +7C over ambient.

Fuel economy, well i did get 70 miles over a whole tank once (not on a trackday).
But the OH can get 42mpg out of it, i'm happy with anything in double digits.

I did the aerokit for looks, i think it looks awesome, fitted it myself over half a day and didn't fit a front numberplate, i'll get some photos of it later/tomorrow to show you as it's current photos is a bit outdated.

As a bonus from the aerokit though i did see a drop in underbonnet temps.

Useful stuff, thanks.

How does the alta intake compare to the k+n?

The alta is a whole lot louder, it's got a slight whistle to it as well, so if you want refinement just get a panel, but if you're going for out and out power get an alta with the lid, they're useless without the lid as they use the low pressure area from the passenger windscreen vent.

The K&N panel is an improvement on the standard filter because they don't change the airfilter until 60k.

But in order of upgrades i'd go

Pulley
Intercooler
Manifold
CAI
Cat-back.

Your list of MINI modifications is impressive, I also like the idea of doing away with the front number plate. Is this definitely legal? Have the police ever stopped you for it? I really want to take mine off but am slightly worried about attracting unwanted attention/fines from the BiB..

No, it's not legal.

I've been stopped once by a local BIB and feigned ignorance about it falling off, only to be told they get stolen a lot hehe

Never been fined, although it's only £60 and no points if you do.

Why? Any side/behind shots of the car?

You can't really see the exhaust in this shot, but it gives an idea of the rear aerokit bumper (which people don't fit often oddly) although if you do the side skirts it looks wrong without the rear due to the fact it all sits lower.

They're coming off because they make the car tramline badly, so the plan is to go back to the standard geometry, which IMHO there's nothing massively wrong with.

Yeah, looks like you're running a little camber at the back too?

Also, do the wheels save much weight? Have they changed the handling?

I'll be keeping mine pretty standard externally but some lightweight wheels are tempting.

The photo is a bit deceiving as the camber isn't as extreme as the photo makes out, but it'#s had a little tweak yes wink

The wheels made a huge difference because they're Ultraleggera HLTs so weigh the square root of naff all, that combined with the brakes means that the unsprung weight has come down a lot making it a lot more responsive.

Hmm. My replacement tyres are £120-160 each at a quick glance. Your package was £720 with four tyres? Sounds like a no brainer.

Are they runflats? Do they help put the power down? Are you running a diff?

£720 because i got them from a mate wink I've no idea if you can even get the HLTs any more (they'd be over £2k if you could get them, IIRC) , but the standard ultraleggeras are just as good and they're also a lot more tough for road use.

The tyres aren't runflats, i'll have to look later at what they are hehe Goodyear eagle F1s possibly.

Not running a diff yet, the plan is to fit a Quaife one at some point, but TBH i've not really missed out on it.

As for putting the power down, unless you gun it on almost full lock (pulling out of a junction) they're perfect, once you're in a straight line they don't let up at all.

Impressed that it'll put 240hp down without a diff!

Does your mate still do decent deals? I'll be changing mine towards the end of the year hopefully.

They came off his race car, so sadly no, he's not a shop. But it's worth looking around for a set of wheels, IIRC NAM have a thread with all the wheel weights in it, so it's quite handy to select from there.

You'd be amazed how much grip these tyres have, but they are a fair bit wider than standard and because they're not runflat you don't have to suffer the hard compound.
