The Red Airbag Light keeps comming on and we have had the car seat wiring repaired which solved the problem but its come on again now.

We have Mot due now and wondered would this be an Mot Failure if she goes in before the wiring fault can be carried out ?

Cheers for the info (-:

Think this will be a problem for you. Do you move the seats or put something under them? I have a scanner if you near to the west midlands which will clear or reset if that will help, also tells you whats wrong

Thanks RKDE but im based near London )-:
The seats are JCW Seats and get moved a lot when we have friends sitting in the back.

Thanks for your offer of help though - really appreciate it (-:

I am sure you have just pulled the wires, I have the JCW seats and often the cable gets knocked. It may be worth buying a B200 as its £50 and resets the airbag and reads the code. Your air bags do not work when the light is on so take it easy.

BMW here charge £60 to reset the light...

Presuming its an R53

We had a fault in one of the body control units that buggered up the airbags.

Specifically the one in the passenger footwell behind the left kick panel.

Thats 100% correct but you may notice that there is still a pretensioner and if you have not un-coaded the airbag yellow wire may be connected to the resistor mod or BMW resistor adapter which therefore means you still have sire to your seat. So regardless of the fact that the Sparco JCW seats have no air bags they still have the same design fault of any other mini produced seat.

When I say your air bags will not work when the light is on "No airbags work" that includes the others not in the seat which are not there...

I have an ODB 2 or 3 Device (not sure what its exactly called !) Would that work ?

I have used it before to reset the exhaust sensors .

You have an OBD2 CAN BUS but you need another B200 OBD2 tool to actually reset the airbag as its separate air bag module and not part of the stock OBD

I have the smae problem and the car has just passed an MOT this morning.

The airbag light was noted on the sheet but it isn't a failure.
