Mini One 1st Generation
Discussion
Hi all
Been on various Mini forums but cannot seem to get a straight answer. I've gone and bought my sister a mini and found that the temp guage sits a little above half but it doesn't overheat.
It was the same when the previous owner took it for a long test drive, and when the drive back it was the same. Now the Mini2 forum suggests that the guages are fairly inaccurate.
Does anyone here own or had experience of the Mini?
Replies appreciated.

Very hard to get outside the bmw network, for it to be warranted it had to be fitted by them,£900 give or take,at the same time a small bit of windscreen rubber became loose,i asked them to repair it for a small fee they refused, said it needed a new screen, again windscreen and fitting strangely £900.I refused this and glued the said trim myself.Concerned me that a so called prestigious brand could act in this way, still lesson learned, never again from this make.

Hi
Not quite sure what the question about the temp gauge means?? But we owned a first gen Mini One for six years (owned from new!) and the temp gauge went to the same position for six years and never faltered. Never had any overheating problems so I wouldn't worry about that.
The only problems in six years we had were a cracked windsreen and a faulty airbay light. We were very happy with the car and changed it for a Cooper S after!
Best of luck
Mike

Dont forget this is a forum, and effectively the minority who are enthusiasts or people looking for suggestions on how to fix things - we have had 2 mini ONE's and the first (Convertible) overheated due to a failed thermostat (apparently quite common) cost £90 to fix.....
Personally I wouldnt worry too much, however the engines etc in the R56 for the ONE's do seem to be better IMO - the Convertible was truely, miserably slow, but great handling!
