Hi, the wife is having trouble with the washers on her 2002 cooper. Anyone know if this is a common fault?

I'm certain i can hear the pump or motor spinnning, but nothing happens. Any chance it might be the hose has come off inside the water bottle or something? I'd have a look, but can't even see where the washer bottle is! it took me long enough to find the filler cap when i first filled it up... getmecoat

I'd like to have a look at it before passign it onto a mechanic to have a look, but everything seems so well packaged I'm worried I'll have to take half the car apart to get to it!

Any ideas?

You've checked the obvious fault havent you? I wont elaborate any further.

Are the headlamp washers working still?

Are they heated jets?

Are the jets themselves free from blockage at the windscreen end?

Presue obvous fault is water in them? Yup, full to the brim for the past few months... I'm a bit slow at getting it sorted.

No obvious blockages at the jets.
No headlamp washers.
Not heated.

I've since found a little guide on how to access the bottle, so I'll whip the front wheel off and get the arch liner out, see what's going on. apparently the pum can sludge up... we'll see.

Cheers

before you pull the a panels out pull the pipe off the nozzle and try it again and see if water comes out. if it does then its the jets and not the pump
