First things first, have you checked the oil level on the dip stick?

If yes and it's full, then you are loosing oil pressure for some reason, which is not a good thing. I would have the pump checked out for starters....

Hello I have just purchased a brand new mini one and literally drove it back from the dealership which was 6 miles and the oil pressure warning light has come on.I contacted the dealership and because the service department had closed for the weekend I was advised to call the emergency service line.
An engineer was sent out and after checking the obvious oil level etc and connecting the diagnostic tester he has advised me not to drive the car due to oil pressure problem and is arranging for the car to be collected to go back to the dealership.
Having looked on line it appears this may be a not so uncommon fault, should I be worried and could I have already caused serious damage to my new car?
What could be the most likely cause and should I be right to be concerned?
Also should this not have been picked up during the PDI or other similar checks performed to make sure the new car is ready for sale?

It is going to be worth ensuring the filter was changed when they did the oil change, then if that has been done you want to make sure its not effecting your flow, some non OEM filters have been known on the mini to upset the flow and add a restriction however I don't think that is the problem.

The oil pumps can and have failed on the mini normally a piston seal within the pump which is probably the most likely cause as its not pulling oil through on low rpm but is on higher.

The only other know issue is the chain tensioner is made of a type of plastic, this slowly shaves off and does block the pick up strainer

Finally it could be your oil pressure sensor

I would be thinking oil pump, I think they cost some where between £100 and £150 but are quite a pain to fit.
