2002 remote key fob

Got a 2002 mini one . When I bought it ,it came without a remote key fob.I have to use the spare key to open the car and start it before the alarm goes off. Would anyone know where I can get a second hand key and get it reprogrammed to suit my car?

Ebay for the key itself, and then BMW or an indi to get it coded.

Has anyone actually done this? I tried this a couple of years back on a BMW having heard the same. I got the blanks, got the guts from a remote key, put them all together, then went to a very well known keycutter to which they said "cant cut that, only BMW can do that". They tried, and failed. Tried another key cutter who had a more up-to-date machine, and again, failed.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has succeeded in getting this to work.
