Chaps,

Can any of you recommend a Mini specialist in or around the North Herts/South Beds area?

There's a rattle coming from what sounds like the exhaust at around 2k rpm and also, gear changes can be a little harsh unless the clutch is ALL the way down. I dont think the clutch is on its way out (no slippage) and the gearbox seems to be solid but I'd like to get someone to look it over. Trouble is, search for "Mini" and "Specialist" around these parts turns up with Specialist Cars in Luton - the main agent!

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheers
Woody

BUMP

Chaps, giving this a bump - still looking for a recommendation for someone to look after the Mini for me - anyone?

Or should I just man up and book it in with Specialist Cars?

Anyone experiences either of the two symptoms, above?

Cheers
Woody

Ah, if St Neots isn't too far, 1320MINI are definitely worth a visit!

Thanks, I'd be interested in how you get on. I used their Luton branch a while back when I was running a BMW but for a 6 year old car, I think their rates might be a bit rich!

Yeah, thats a bit of a trek - I'll bear them in mind though if I cant find someone closer, thanks.

As it is clutch/ gearbox related an indie probably wont know as much as the main dealers ( might be a known fault) will so that's why I'd use the main dealer. smile

Well,

I must say service was ok.

arrived and all seemed fine, said they'd look at the sat nav problems whilst in for a service.

Got a phone call at 9ish to say that it needed the brake fluid changed aswell and would be £50.00

Then got a phone call at 1 to say the car was ready.

Upon arriving I got a £120.00 bill handed to me. In which I explained I was only told about the £50.00 . HE then said as you asked us to have a look at the sat nav the Diagnostic fee is £70.00. Thats to look at the sat nav and plug a computer into it.

Was fairly annoyed that I hadn't been made aware and said that they'd look into it. Money wasn't the issue just being presented with a higher bill when they said they'd take care of it!

Thanks for the feedback. Thats kind of what I want to avoid - paying for things just because they have the overheads to cover! I'd rather find an Indy that charges for what needs doing....

Thanks again.

To be honest, Every car I've sold they've asked for service history. Never Dealer Service History and the climate these days doesnt warrant it.

I'd only go to the manufacture if its something they specialise in.
