Looking into getting a new car in 2011 and swaying towards either a A3 1.6 TDI or Cooper D.

Was using the online configurater and came up with:

Midnight Black with 17" 'infinite stream' alloys in white
Red half leather interior
Chilli pack - An 'essential' really?
Vision pack - Quite fancy Xenons, is it worth the £720?
Sun protection glass
Front Arm rest - Currently without one in my 1 series and it's torture
Front Seat heating - Worth £215? Never had it before but quite fancy it

The problem is that I can't seem to find a cruise control option, is this available? If so how much is it? Again, my poverty spec 1 series doesn't have it, I intend on driving this car for 3 years so I want some levels of comforts.

Any other opinions of the options above? Any I left out and should get? Or any I shouldn't bother with?

Cheers all

The cruise is in the multi-function steering wheel.

The normal headlamps are good enough on main beam, too short a throw on dipped for my liking (but that's probably some EU safety feature). Depends where you live really - most of my driving is in lit urban areas so headlamps are more to be seen than see.

TLC pack is important (mine was negotiated into the asking price).

I down-specced to cloth only sports seats so don't need to be heated. Did opt for the heated windscreen and auto lights/wipers, all have been used frequently.

Mini dealers seem unwilling to offer much (any?) discount so I have priced the car via Jonathan at Carfile. They put you in touch with the dealer and you deal direct with them. I've dealt with him before and have no complaints at all.
I specced a white Cooper D with:-
OBC
Full USB (gives you the armrest and multi steering wheel thing)
Auto aircon
15" wheels which cost £85 extra (look better than standard ones). 17" wheels look great but are pricey and ruin the ride.
Auto wipers and lights
Sports button
TLC pack
The price came to around £16400 which is £1200-£1300 off list.
I really want the car to beat the congestion charge so don't want to go mad on the extras as the car can easliy get to £20k+ before you realise if you start sticking in leather and sat nav etc.

Can anyone recommend a chip for the car? There seem to be many at £299 which offer 140bhp and 200 torques but have no idea which are good.
Thanks
