Remote Central Locking - Any techs on here?

Hi guys,
My 05 MCS has been faultless from new, however, yesterday when I got home from work I went to lock the car on the key button and it would not do it.
I tried about 20 times to no avail and got pissed with it so I locked it with the door lock and did some home work on the net into the prob......
The following things work fine,
Central locking works using the key in the door,
It works using the flick switch on the dash,
Both keys do not work on any button,
I found some spiel on the net about "re sync" on the keys so I thought I'd give that a go, get in the car shut door, turn ign to pos one, switch off, press unlock and hold, press lock 3 times and release.
Car confirms sync by locking and unlocking the doors.
This works with both keys, however, the keys will not lock and unlock the car in normal service, I even drove the car 10 miles away from my house to eliminate any chance of there being interfering signals.
Very puzzled. Could it be the radio control unit anyway? They are about £50 from BMW, there are no other problems at all with the car.
