HELP!! with door cards...

hope some1 can help me with my door cards, i took them off this morning with the attention of painting them the same as the car... i dont mean the whole card just the centres that are silver where you pull it to shut it, i then discovered they wouldnt come off the card? i thought they you be 2 seperate bits, has any1 else had this problem and overcome it? ive seen minis with them painted so it must be possible? or is it best to mask them up really good and paint them on?

We drill them out and then bond them back in, its the only way really unless you mask them off

the are heat staked and a few people used to use a soldering iron to melt the clips but now most people just drill them out
