Hi everyone
The cd player in my 05 cooper s is being very temperamental. Does anyone else have this problem??
It is the original unit and sometimes it will not read discs and comes up with cd error or it can be playing a disc and decide it doesnt like it and automatically jump to the radio.
Sadly i havent got the harman Kardon player. Do you know how much it would cost to have this put in and also if they are any good?? I wouldnt be able to put in myself and dont know anyone that could. Also, i want to keep it mini orignal really
thanks ps im based in kent if anyone knows anywhere good

The HK retro fit kit from BMW is £1500 and not worth that. It is a good system and I have managed to do a retro fit in the past but I brought the parts off a breaker for about £200 however everything in the car had to come out and it was a case of wiring and splicing into the original wiring harness.
If you can't do the conversion your self you will be looking at probably £2k to £2.5K for it to be purchased and fitted...
My advise is either change your speakers or head unit. The best systems seam to have different speakers and then run an amp from the stock head unit.
Your head unit CD lens has probably started to die or become dirty after so many years. Maybe try a lens cleaner or get a second hand head unit from ebay, it is quite easy to change and the units are not coded
