This meet has been running for a good few years now and it happens without the need for me to 'organise it '
Everyone arrives when they like, chat, kick tyres and eat bacon rolls and leave when they like. It's a very relaxed and informal meet, plus there's plenty of great roads in the area.

It's well worth a visit.

Hope you can make it.

Planning on being there, but might bring the newest addition to the fleet - might be a controversial choice over the Aston ;-)

Just a reminder this is tomorrow morning.

I'll be there at 9:30 and will park at the rear of the pub

Won't be able to make it, sorry guys. Apparently the in laws coming over is more important...

Lovely morning for a cuppa and a bacon butty today, great to meet a few of you friendly chaps. Some great cars there. Don't think Mrs gpb1 will be allowing me to swap her car for a Zenos anytime soon but she did admire the commitment required to own such a track focused car.

Very interested in this, I live less than 5 minutes away! Will bring my camera for some shots, looks like some lovely cars have turned up previously too.

Just had a letter from Northants Police...the local busybodies clocked me at an alleged 36mph...which either means they clocked me outside or right on the edge of the 30-limit, or they weren't using it properly (front of my car is very slopey).

Either way it's wound me up - I slow down for 30s and they're taking the p there as I know I wasn't doing 36...

Ha I saw them ^ nothing through as of yet

I did turn up, couldn't find anywhere to park really so left (black mk7 golf gti).

I didn't realise how good the roads were round there so just wanted to drive, was out for 2 hours!

I wonder if that would stand up in court. Presumably police equipment has to be officially calibrated and tested. If Joe Busybody buys something cheap off eBay and claims it clocked you at 36mph, how can he prove it's accurate?

It's just a warning letter as opposed to an FPN?

If I know Evenley well enough, it will be the old boys of the Neighbourhood watch with their speed gun, sending information to the local police. Happened in the past and the police cannot legally do anything about it but issue warnings. Or so I was told. Heard about it when I made the mistake of going to my village's Annual Parish Meeting (I was sure the P in APM meant pub...frown).

Suspect you're right, they do the same in Kings Sutton

Think there was a program on ITV about a similar scheme in Derbyshire a few weeks ago. Local curtain-twitchers, mostly retired war-hero types, stand on the side of village roads, point unofficial speedguns at cars, and send official warning letters (no points or fines) cosigned by the police to anyone breaking the speed limit. It all fell apart in the end, when the plod started accusing the busybodies of making up numbers (so they could influence traffic-calming schemes in their favour, etc.).

This was a warning on official Northants CC letterhead saying that if they get another notification "they'll take further action".

Not sure what further action they can take on the basis of (potentially unreliable) info from someone not authorised or potentially fully-trained (signed-off?) in use of the device, but it's the officious tone of the whole thing that riles...
