Yeah, that was my idea in the first place. But a sort of PnP but with a northants slant. If local banter went straight to PnP it would sink without a trace, but as a sub-section of the northants forum it`s easier to dip into, as and when. Plus it`s much easier to put names to faces....
Pretty sure you can't have a forum within a forum.
Only thing you can do is start a thread with the name you wanted, and ask a mod if they will make it a sticky

Dont forget the rating system folks, if you think a thread is crap them click the rating at the bottom of thread.

It's actually easier just to not read the forum at the moment... Alternatively, if everyone voted the way I'm likely to, the forum would get closed down, and I don't want to see that happen.

Keep forgetting that .... works well if you think the topic is poop from the start, but a bit ambigous on hi-jacked threads, I think I'd cry if one of my threads got a thumbs down .

Edited to add: I'm not sure how many ratings a thread needs before the thumb appears - have we even got enough Northants members ?

Yes and no, the icon on the front page of northants forum is the authors chosen icon,
if you go to Pie & Piston, look along the far left hand side you will see a thumb up for 'PH series' thread, and on page 2 another thumb up for 'sean connery' thread.
Those threads have been rated good.
However, 'my fingers stink of prawns' would get a thumbs down from me.

Just realised what you mean Mark ... at the bottom of the thread in small letters is 'Rate this Thread' with a thumb up and a thumb down. You are allowed to vote once, you can change your mind and it updates your vote. If a thread receives a certain amount of thumbs up or thumbs down it gets a thumb icon next to it (different to the one next to the prawn thread)

A selection of what I consider to be piffle subjects. (I only looked at the first two pages of the forum so there could be more)

I think i get where you`re coming from, it`s (sort of) where i was coming from in the first place. (i think) So should they go in the shoe factory, PnP or be banned completely? Personaly I wouldn`t like to see anything banned because it smacks of snobbery. I do like the "sticky" idea though...

If they go in P&P they'd get locked. If you put them in a sticky, does that mean you'd have ONE thread for what I consider to be the chaff, or would you end up with loads of stickies (which is unworkable in my opinion).

Personally, I'm not interested in most of the banter. I email the people I see on here socially about the silly stuff we get up to, mainly because alot of it is inside jokes that no-one else would get, so they don't want to read it.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about : "Di, turn round!!"

means nothing to you, but it's hilarious to me, mxdi, Matt172, Trackside and Skid Solo

The locking thing is always a strange one, as its up to the mods what they think is acceptable/drivel(sp)an example would be this, as its a complete load of old bollox www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=280608&f=141&h=0 and as such was locked
