Well done to both of you!

No frost at my local event this morning so I thought I'd go a bit harder to try and get back to the 19:30s.

Absolutely blowing in the final mile but finished in 19:34, so quite pleased.

My first parkrunless weekend in a while, working in Cornwall for a couple of weeks and they're a bit sparse down here, nearest ones over an hour away.

Wasn't feeling like I was going to do a fast time today but felt comfortable over the first 3km so got quicker for the last 2 and finished with a new PB of 23 minutes dead - 33 seconds off my previous best.

Of the 3 parkruns I have done on my own (as opposed to with one of my kids) i have improved each timewhich is pleasing.

Nearly time for one once annual park run over the road at Bushey Park - fitter than last year so maybe sub 22 this time smile

Target for Saturday was to log a proper time (not starting two minutes late) and ideally get near to the 25:30 I did last week.

Crossed the line on 24:58 woohoo 24:52 on the watch (line to line). Nice one - smashed it!

Then got my official time through of 25:01. Bugger. Now I need to go again and get those 3 seconds back.

I can see why this gets addictive.

Planning to do my first ParkRun on Saturday at Pennington Flash (Bolton-ish). I'm part of a group trying to set one up in Bath so thought I'd better do one as a participant to see how it all works.

John2443 - I still haven't managed to email you. I'll get my thoughts/questions in order when I have a chance!

I've been trying for the last few parkruns to get below 19 minutes. For two weeks in a row I got exactly 19 minutes, and then I got 19.03, and then last Saturday I did it! 18.57!

Similar to other posters on this thread, a lot of it was having other runners around me who were also aiming for a sub 19 minute time. They overtook me, and then I overtook them. At the end I summoned everything I could and managed to overtake them.

Seriously, I'm still on a high. This was my 22nd parkrun, and it doesn't seem that long ago that I was trying to get a sub 20 minute time.

Definitely. I'm pretty sure I knocked off those 16 seconds, to get my new pb, because of this guy in 60-65 category overtook me just after 4k. I'm 23 so was I fook letting him stay in front wink.

Marathon talk refer to being beaten by a more mature runner as being 'Codgered' - on the same line as being 'Chicked'.

It amazes me the times that some of the older runners do, we had a VM55-59 guy who did 18:34 recently and one of our VM65-69 can do 19:59.

wish I'd never read this...now I'm thinking of doing it again. I couldn't run for toffee then about a year ago I promised (in the pub...of course) to run a 10k. I ran one (Lincoln) in 57 minutes after a few month training and did a couple of parkruns in my training. Enjoyed them but the saturday at 9am thing got in the way a lot.

Think I might pick it up a bit and give it another go (ps. was only doing about 27minutes mind so I never really got very good)

hehe That's great, I remember when I joined the running club and was talking to a guy who is 82 and still does a 34 minute parkrun!

Did my first ParkRun today at Pennington Flash. Good rough lumpy wet 3-lap course. Great atmosphere. Lots more knowledge for the Bath ParkRun project.

Someone mentioned on here a while back the bloke who's done the most number of parkruns. He had an operation on his foot the other week, this week he did his 427th parkrun on crutches and with a cast on his foot...in under 55 minutes!

You shoulda said, I'd have gone. PF is my local one. I was 50/50 about going today, and when I woke at 8:40, I know I wasn't. biggrin

Third Parkrun today and beat my 25:01 with a 24:17. At this rate I should get under 20 minutes at some time early January. wink

I did almost 10 miles last night so went to park run with the intention of just doing a slow one as my legs were heavy.

I did take it really easy until about half way but then saw a line of 5 runners in front of me, decided to make it my mission to pass them all before the end.Managed it quite easily and finished on 22.00 which is way behind my 21.04 from last week but still about 3 mins quicker than i intended to run today.

I suppose its a sign my running is progressing as until 3 weeks ago my balls out PB was 21.56 and today i was only 4 seconds off it without really trying for a good section of the run and with already tired legs.

I also ran 32.1 miles this week which is the most i have ran in a week in my life.
