Does your watch have an altimeter?Mine does and Garmin and Strava match - but I think the watch overrides Strava's mapping when it has a sensor.

Also, I made a rookie error earlier by not recalling that I have elevation set to metres and distance set to miles on Garmin, but Strava only allows blanket metric or imperial measurements.
Don't think mine has an altimeter (Forerunner 610) so that's probably it. Presumably Garmin and Strava both plot the trace on to their own maps to get the elevation, and there's a slight difference between the mapping. I've never quite figured out what happens when Garmin transfers to Strava. I get that it takes out any time it thinks your stopped so the times can be out, but there's quite often a difference in the distance measurement too.

I have removed myself from the parkrun discussion group because:
1. I got an actual phone call telling me to remove the popcorn emoticon I posted on the tail runner being renamed ststorm thread because it 'didn't convey the right image'.
2. I got fed up of them picking the slightest detail apart.
amongst all the noise, some of the comments are interesting from a 'customer' point of view but are seemingly poo pooed which is a shame. I can't imagine there will be a lot of stink from this change as they will keeping their powder dry for when the t-shirts are available again.

Personally, I wouldn't bribe (am a parent, not judging, happy to bribe) mainly because I think something like running is so so important in life that I would like my lad to come to it in his own time, not associate it with a reward. At this point I think the best thing you can do is set a good example by going running/parkrunning yourself, provide the opportunity for him to participate by offering him the choice of junior or full (or a run with you) and as and when he does a run, tell him you're proud of him for what he's done. He'll remember making you proud for a lot longer than a cornetto.

You need less as you get fitter. Just have whatever works but I would say - something light for most. Banana or toast and jam.I have usual porridge about now, but close to the start time really but seems ok.

Our local is two miles away so the normal routine is to run down, do it and run back up again for 7 miles total. I really enjoy them as I hate doing tempo runs on my own, and it's the perfect Saturday morning for me .
Today I finally got my pacing right for once-and was pretty close to my pb.

I don't think there's any need to over think breakfast before Parkrun, I doubt you'll be exhausting your muscle fuel stores. Just have whatever you normally do or whatever you fancy, something light ideally if you're eating shortly beforehand. Hydration is more important IMO.
Personally I've had some of my best results with just coffee and water. Not because it's a recipe for success, just because it's what I'm used to - I'll often do 2-3 hour runs on an empty stomach first thing without issue.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And if it is broke aim for something that's normal to you but light.

Most Saturdays, just a slice of toast with some jam or Nutella and a coffee. Then some water as I jog the 2 miles to the venue. Works well enough for most occasions, but I do find I'm sometimes in need of a little something more - hate running with an empty feeling in my stomach.I have usual porridge about now, but close to the start time really but seems ok.
