Anyone had any issues with the new parkrun wristbands failing to scan etc? I have the original design, in perfect condition but today was the 3rd or 4th time I’ve been an ‘Unknown’ rolleyes Considering getting the new one to see if it’s any better. Luckily again the event RD has kindly said they’ll manually update my time when they get the chance.
If you're looking to replace it, I find the keyfob ones way better than a wristband, you get a pack of 3 of them, so I have them laced in to both my road shoes and my trail shoes, never any chance of me forgetting my barcode and they still scan fine after a couple of years use. Plus it means I always have an emergency contact number on my if I'm running on my own.

Took delivery of one of the new style parkrun club t-shirts - the 250 one.

First impressions - I prefer it to the Tribesports t-shirts (I only have the volunteer one to compare it to). Material is much lighter and more breathable. Length is decent, so taller people need not worry. The fit and cut are what I would consider true to size; I'm normally an XS in casual clothing and I would go with what your wardrobe normally comes to with these new t-shirts.

I know of quite a few people who've received their 250 shirt in the last couple of weeks, has anyone heard of people getting 50 or 100?

I need to do 7 more to get to 250, been steadfastly avoiding missing a week for ages! Will be able to relax once I've reached 250!

I'm under 20 from my 100. I sometimes see a 250 at my regular place.

around 10 from my 25 too.
Are they the same colours?

The colours are the same but the design is slightly different. You can tell them apart from the previous milestone t-shirts.

Are the 50s proper red - mine's adidas and is a real red, the Tribesport ones always looked like they'd been washed too many times even when they were new!!

I'm 17 stone 7 ounces and I regularly do Ludlow parkrun, usually regarded as one of the toughest courses, due to muddy forest conditions and long climbs. My best time is 25.34 over that course although I rarely drop below 26 minutes now. My bro reckons you can add at least a minute over flatter, tarmac based courses but I prefer this sort of running. I've been a runner since 2001, although I'm much quicker over 10k type distances, it is a lot of fun trying to improve on your performance.
The main issue with Ludlow, is the cold which really freezes your muscles and your lungs, so I usually have to do a four mile or so run to warm myself up beforehand. I find it handy to identify someone who is a little bit quicker than me and try and keep up with them as I don't have a fitness watch or Strava.
That's good, I never see anyone like that at mine I'm currently 105kg and did a 25:10ish last week, way off my pb (at a heavier weight) but the fastest I've been for some time, keeping away from barbell and settling for bw stuff. I've done worlsey woods which is like running to Isengard but my times between my normal flattish one and th woods isn't really there.
Wat's your current 10k time? My average weight for the past few years has been 17st plus change but I'm making a concerted effort to drop poundage to help with my goal of 49 mins. I have left my training swapover too late though,
Have to say my pacer helped me to my quick time. what do you eat before a run?

I haven't actually timed myself over 6.2 miles lately, I used to be able to do about 38 minutes but that was years ago when I was about four stone lighter. I'd be very interested if they put in a weight category for parkrun, but people can be sensitive about their weight. I'm not really fat, but I'm certainly no body builder in shape.

I don't actually eat anything in the morning before a run now, and tend to watch what I eat on Friday night too. I was getting stomach cramps, which was probably due to slight dehydration. I've started doing a bit of cross training, cycling and weights too to improve my core and leg strength.

Sub 25 minutes like you've been managing is what I'm after, it does feel achievable if I can get a dry day and improve my top speed a bit. Weirdly I'm much quicker in trainers with very thin soles, like my spikes have.

Can't vouch for the new red t-shirts, but the new 250 is a slightly darker green - primarily because the fabric is less glossy compared to the Tribesports version, so appears flatter and darker. I'd suspect the red will be similar.

Had my wristband a few months, no problems. I wear it a few times a week when I remember, in case I keel over in a ditch somewhere!
97 parkruns now, will soon join to 100 club..

Not had any issues with mine. I wear it 24/7 now as it's the cheapest ICE band I've seen too. Barcode is basically a bonus!

It's a shame they switched the green as the old black and gold one were far nicer, but I can see why they did as they're also far nicer than the 500 ones biggrin

See, I'm the other way around where I prefer that they're all the same design and belong to the same family to show progression through simply being different colours. The black and gold design, whilst certainly standing out, looked like it was conceived at a different time to the 100 and 50 t-shirts (which it was).

A friend of mine from Cardiff parkrun has one of the original Nike sponsored 100 t-shirts.

I assume at the time they thought 250 would be as high as they'd ever need to go so it looking different makes sense to me.
It's kind of a shame they don't make the shirts available to buy for people who've "qualified". My 100 shirt has had a fair bit of use and I'm still a way off my 250, I can't believe many peoples 250 shirts last until they hit 500 so would be nice to be able to buy a replacement. That would also mean they could bring back the 100 jackets, my wife got one just before they stopped but I was too late.

Not sure I've seen the old Nike 100 shirt. I'm guessing Darren Wood's probably got a supply of unusual parkrun kit as he's been first to each club so would have got the prototypes biggrin

The 'can I buy a replacement' has been mentioned before but they have yet been unable to keep up with demand for the free ones let alone order in more for the people who want a replacement.

Now they have taken back control of the t-shirt process, the buy option may well be on their list of things to do in the future once the backlog has been cleared.

They should introduce other stuff as well like water bottles, bags, shorts, whatever and I would be very surprised if they did not sell them by the bucket load.

Yeah, the apricot shirts seem to sell well so more branded stuff could turn out to be a nice earner.

Nice trot around Maidenhead Parkrun today. Flat apart from 2 small inclines and on tracks rather than tarmac so easy on the knees. This is now my nearest run and it was well marshalled and lots of encouragement

My mrs did her 100th ages ago but it was around the time they stooped doing the 100/200 t shirts.

Have they restarted or are they just doing the bog standard apricot shirts ?

It’s restarted. People who have been waiting the longest get the invite first.
