Didn’t realise there was a parkrun thread on here! I started doing them in April and have become a bit addicted. biggrin I hadn’t really done any running before so am a bit crap, but I really enjoy it and am getting quicker.

A friend and I have signed up for a half marathon next year and I must say at the moment the thought of four parkruns in one go is somewhat scary. rofleek

I did my 100th 3 or 4 weeks ago. What is the procedure to get my Tee shirt please?! No email yet
Have you looked at the "club progress" link in your profile? It used to be done though there but I'm not sure if you have to wait for the e-mail now as they had a bit of a backlog with the change of sponsor.
You get an e-mail (mine came on Thurs or Fri after) that congratulates you and directs you to look at your "club Progress" within your profile page thumbup

Careful, …. It starts with parkrun, then one or two local charity 5 or 10k run's, Then a HM …. maybe a Tough Mudder type event, then oh maybe I could just manage a full marathon ……. 6 years down the line you'll be doing your first Ultra... thumbup

Made my PR return today after recovering from injuries in early April. Previous PB was 32.31, next goal sub 30 by end of July. Todays time 29.51! 2.40 knocked off the PB by learning how to run (and breathe!)
And another 5 weeks off, the result of that PB was aggravation of a problem with my right knee which has a very vague diagnosis. Has settled down for a couple of weeks now so I'll have another go tomorrow...

ETA yes I've changed my username back again, resurrecting the business smile

That is so true. Started last January with parkrun, didn't run before apart from 5-10 mins in the gym. then did 3 10k's then
1st HM that October 6 days after being discharged from Hospital. so far this year I have done 2 Wolf Runs, & 4 Half marathons. 3 more OCR's and 3 more HM's planned this year and hoping for VLM next year.

First one on Saturday past, never ran that far before but was fine with it, 25.34 and 69th of 200. Happy with that, will give it another shot this week.

That’s impressive. Is that with just the parkrun once a week or with other training too?

Difficult to moderate my pace in the strong head / tail winds, but judging by the thanks I got at the end …. looks like my effort was appreciated thumbup

Cheers, Mainly parkrun and 1 or 2 gym sessions a week

Whilst I dont have a perfect diet I just don't go mad too often with eating crap

Started road cycling recently and it seems to be having an even greater impact fitness and weight wise

Impressive, I hope this weeks was as good. I am 10 minutes quicker than my first run and still not that quick

Not sure if it's been mentioned already, but has anybody installed the parkrun Google Chrome extension yet?

Unlocks lots of challenges (Groundhog Day, Beegees (Stayin' Alive), Regionnaire etc) and provides lots of stats (eg closest parkrun event not yet visited).

Quite surprised at my progress in some of the challenges and I think I've now been spurred on to wrap a few of them up!

I've got it! It is good for some things, I'm not bothered about things like Pirates and BeeGees, but it gives a good record of where you have run.

I'd already completed parkrun bingo (time ending in 00,01,02......59) by the time I heard of it.

I do have it in mind to try and improve my Wilson index (have run at a first event, second, third etc, can be in any order) - potentially this could be about 200 but due to gaps is actually only......1 ! We've got some new events starting locally soon so I can fill in some gaps!

Good parkrunning weekend for me. Buggy pb of 22.03 and my mate got his sub 22, on a windy offroad course. I'm well pleased. I was bushed though.

Then RD'd Sunday at our juniors. Pelting with rain, but we still had eight kids turn out. Not enough volunteers, so I was FM, RD and third marshal post all at once (we're three laps, so compact), but it was great to see kids having fun in the pouring rain. Two were first timers too! I was grumbling to myself as I set up, and then I suddenly realised that this is the whole point. We do it every Sunday because if one kid turns up, they get a run. After the lightbulb went off I was much cheerier (apart from untangling the finish funnel - how do folk get it so fking tangled up in the first place - it's four sticks and a bit of tape?).

Nicest was writing the run report. With only eight kids, I was able to name-check everyone!

Incidentally, what would the consensus view be on volunteering credits for me this weekend? Technically I did pre-event, RD, results and report. I could award myself four slots in the roster, but frankly, I don't see that as fair at all. Our vol coordinator sometimes comes and scans etc., but I see that as two distinct things, so have no issues with two credits there. Be interested in the wider view, especially as a guy got a namecheck on MT the other day for being a prolific volunteer (and he is, for nearly a decade) but he has far more volunteering credits that possible unless you take multiple roles/weekend, whereas I am either volunteering, and so take a credit, or not, in which case I don't.

So, one credit, I was a volunteer, or four credits, I did four things?

I'd take the four credits. If you had the volunteers, you'd allocate one role to each person.

If it was me, I'd take one, as one person was there.
