5 degrees and not raining so not too bad here. I missed Saturday due to the Gatwick drone so going to be one down on all the Christmas parkruns frown

parkrun tourism today (Andover thumbup ) as my local run was closed

A nice new experience of running on grass which has seen maybe one to many runs …. quite slippery in patches and it made it difficult to get traction down with my worn out trainers,

Still nice to keep the locals honest with a low 22 minute run

ETA … thought it was quite mild and great running conditions biggrin

pootled round today. thre minutes quicker than last time, that's the benefit of only restricting other exercises to 500 daily hindu squats instead of all the deads and bb squats I normally do. biggrin

Merry Christmas all!

Did Severn Bridge parkrun on Saturday and got to see Matt Rees (Swansea Harrier of London Marathon fame) smash the course record whilst dressed as Mes Claus. Great course and very iconic.

Ran this morning at Newport parkrun, caked in mud from the trails.

Now for some turkey!

Way warmer than I was expecting, started in a long sleeve with a Christmas t-shirt over the top and hand to take the t-shirt off on the first lap. Regretted wearing long socks too.

I'm a big fan of the little plastic tag ones, lace them in to shoes and never run the risk of forgetting my barcode.

Frosty Albert parkrun this morning. 3rd Xmas day parkrun in a row. A tradition I’m hoping to keep going! Managed to drag the gf out too on the condition we run together. So cruised round in an easy 31:45. Was weird getting lapped, haven’t had that before ha.

Also saw my first 500 parkrun T-shirt being worn by an older woman. Can’t be many of them out there!

If you email the event and ask politely they should add you in, but good idea to print new ones!

Our previous record attendance, last Jan was 628, today we had closer to 700!

Ran out of finish tokens and had to write down lots of barcodes.

Meanwhile Bushy had 2011, which beats their previous 1705 record from 2014 10th birthday.

Went to Birmingham Cannon Hill for my 99th. Forgot my barcode. Harrumph.

Nice course good crowd.

Question to parkrunners, how quiet is your local.when the brief is being given?

Porthcawl is terrible for everyone talking during the brief (even on armistice weekend) and I've noticed other events are far better.

My home course! Glad you enjoyed. Was saddened to hear of the untimely death of the parkrun regular - was a lovely bloke.

I personally think it's dependent on the age and size of the event. Cannon Hill is now over 8 years old, so has many regulars who have heard the spiel hundreds of times. I was recently at a very young event and everybody hung on to the event director's every word. I'd also say there's the possibility of a perceived decline of common courtesy out there, where people have forgotten/never learned how to behave properly in public.

52 + CD + 2xNYD = 55

plus Canada Day, Christmas Eve (Denmark, Finland, Norway), Boxing Day (Germany, Poland), Malaysia Day, Russian Orthodox Christmas, Chinese New Year (Singapore), National Day of Sweden, Thanksgiving (USA)

So 63 possible if you want to travel a lot and none of them clash!
