Whinlatter is rather challenging, and the finish is at a higher elevation than the start, I’m three minutes slower round there than my usual parkrun in Huddersfield. I also enjoyed the Wepre parkrun, managed fourth finisher there...

Parkrun ‘difficulty’ rankings:-
https://www.runbritain.com/news/course-rankings-st...
The list was recently updated with some movement of events up and down the list, along with new additions.

Coincidentally, I was at the several weeks old Aberbeeg event on Saturday and wanted to see if it was deserving of its high ranking, or whether it was an anomaly of the ranking system.

Ran my fastest parkrun since late July off incredibly broken training since the birth of my son, which just doesn't seem right when there's 145ft of non-stop climbing in the first half, and then 145ft of descent from halfway back to the finish. The course even measured a touch long for me, too!

My local one (which I always do now) is in the 300s. Which explains why i’m usually quicker @5k in a 10k road race! That’s my excuse anyway smile

Nice! Turns out I’ve done the hardest (Flatts Lane) and a top 10 hardest (drumchapel). Both I’m not surprised are right up there as they’re proper tough courses. My local is one of the top 10 easiest too (Victoria Park Glasgow).

Booked up to go to London for a few nights next month. Planning on doing the Bushy Park ‘pilgrimage’. Didn’t realise how far out it is though! Just shy of an hour via tube and train. The things you do for a run in a park..

If anyone has any hints or tips etc then let me know. Current plan is tube to Vauxhall then train to Teddington.

An alternative is the get the train to Hampton Court (from Waterloo). The Parkrun start is closer to the Hampton Court entrance than the Teddington side.

Depends how long a warm up you want I guess ....

You'll enjoy the event - nice and flat and plenty of company on the way round. smile

This is a good shout. I drove and parked up at Hampton Court Station, and it was just a short jog to the park rather than getting caught in the main parking area of Bushy.

Oh, and make sure you go along to The Pheasantry afterwards for coffee and cake (and token sorting). smile

Depends on the weather, it's a nice course on a decent day but no shelter at all when the weathers bad. I had "ice cream headache" from the sleet there once biggrin
I've not been since they changed the course, a mate of mine who's a regular reckons it's a lot harder now with the uphill finish than it was so it may depend on what period their data's from too.

Lots of cancellations tomorrow, check here http://www.parkrun.org.uk/cancellations/ and facebook/twitter for the event you're going to!

Events might not make the decision til they check for icy paths in the morning.

I'm going to Bevendean Down for their birthday, unlikely to be cancelled as it's on grass and we don't have much snow forecast, but I suspect it'll be a bit brutal character building!

On the plus side, great post run fry up in the very nice warm Bevy pub!

My 2 locals are cancelled :-( Thought of another a little further away, which is also cancelled, but have found a 4th within about 20-25 minutes drive that is still on at the moment, fingers crossed! Likely to be packed though I reckon!

3 of my nearest 5 have cancelled already frown

But I’m still going to go and run around my closest one on my own, as it’s all under trees, mostly on gravel trails and the going should be ok. I tend to run the 4.5 miles to it, as a warm up, run it, then jog home a little slower biggrin

Stay upright and enjoy the weekend running everyone thumbup

And it was! Glorious! Bit too sunny, and I had no shades.
And also, thanks to a sitcom level of delaying shenanigans, I was late, so didn't warm up. But as I was walking over it started, and so started at the back, interesting feeling for once to be overtaking instead of overtaken. But then at one klick I had a heavenly visage in front of me that helped me get a decent time. biggrin

Had to dig myself and grit the driveway this morning which I hadn't planned for! Arrived 10 minutes late but still got around in 32 mins, probably passed the tailwalker at less than 2km. Hard work though, having run 500m to the start line it was a decent time for the course in the end.

Most of our local parkruns cancelled, so had a lie in before this afternoon's fell race in the Yorkshire Dales, plenty of snow and ice on the tops...

Made it round Drumchapel yesterday, for being ranked 468th out of 472 on that runbritain page, it didn't seem that hard. Chewy for sure. Perhaps I'm getting better at this malarkey.
