Preston Park (Brighton) and Hove park are less than a mile a the closest point, I think there's somewhere that's closer than that.

Feltham YOI and Bedfont lakes are only across the road (but there's a big fence between them!)

In theory you should get stripped out of the results for one of them unless it's new years day. We had someone do it at our local and another about 5km away a year or so back and I think the system only let him get away with one of them.

So, it will be my 50th Parkrun this week, it's been a very long time since I've just done the straight Parkrun as I usually build it into my long run of the week which can be anything from 6 to 10 miles. My best ever if I remember correctly is around 25:30. I'm thinking of going for a PB on Saturday and if possible a sub 25? I did 26:09 last week incorporated into a 7 mile run. But I don't want to be disappointed..... laugh

Going to do a long run tonight, standard half hour on Thursday and then, watch this space.

Down in London this weekend for a wedding so going to sneak in a parkrun at Finsbury Park. Been pretty lazy the last month and haven’t done any parkruns so looking forward to getting back into it!

Wish you all the best with that, can I suggest that you drop 20-30 seconds a mile on your run today and Thursday to give you the best chance on Saturday.

This ^

Both events get an email that says Where did this person run, sort it out between you and one of you delete them please - we had one because another event mistyped a non scanning barcode but if you want to do it for the challenge and not scan you can.

Note that 'Yes, I was speeding officer, but I was trying to get to another parkrun before the tail walker finished' won't stand up in court smile

There used to be a few other Doubles but I think there's on the new year one now. We did the Copenhagen double last year, when they start one at 8 because of a triathlon at the same venue, but they've said that's the last time they'll let the double results stand.

For anyone who's really keen though it's possible to do the new year double in 2 countries, Amager Strand in Copenhagen and then nip over the bridge to Malmo biggrin I don't know of any others that are close enough across an international border, although I believe a few people have done it across the international date line.

Well I beat my previous PB by some margin but didn't mange to get under 25 minutes. Have to save that one for another day, did 25:07 which I'm pleased with as it is a 23 second improvement on my last PB!

I'm not sure if it would make 7 seconds difference but it was very wet / muddy underfoot on the start / finish straight, the rest of the course is on tarmac so not so bad. Luckily I got away fairly quickly and picked the right side of the track going into the first turn as on the other side people were trying to avoid a big puddle and it slowed to a walk. Also at my Parkrun they have two courses and on Saturday were were on the one with three hairpin turns whereas the other course is continuous, not sure how much difference that makes biggrin

When do I get sent details about getting a T-Shirt? I got an email saying welcome to the 50 club but nothing else so far.

If you log in to your parkrun account (or click on the account option from any of the emails they send to you) and click on the club status link it should give you the option to click through for the t-shirt if its been activated.

There's a waiting list for some of the club t-shirts based on first eligible, first served.

Then, there's potentially a wait depending on your preferred size and whether ProDirect has it in stock or not.

You get 2 emails, the congratulations one usually comes the Saturday you did the 50th/100th etc then another one to say you can get the shirt, mine came about a week after but it depends on stock.

As KTF says, best to log in to your profile now and then to check, in case the email goes to spam or gets lost somewhere.

New parkrun starting in Glasgow. According to Google maps, it’s 1.7 miles from the start of the nearest parkrun (which is incidentally Scotland’s oldest parkrun). Potential record for two closest events? Can anyone think of events that are closer to each other?
Dartford and Dartford Heath are 1.3 miles apart.

No doubt there are others in the Greater London area that are close together given the volume of people.

This seems to be the case! Mine should be arriving tomorrow, just a shame that we're going away on Saturday so i won't be able to model it down the local run this week frown

Was that you, John, that was recently referred to on the With Me Now podcast for your Brighton & Hove efforts? If so, congratulations!

No! Not me! That was John Doherty who's been ED at Hove park since it started 12 years ago.

He's only run it 3 times, he used to be a runner but due to dodgy knees doesn't any more so has volunteered nearly every week apart from when he's on holiday.

A second run started in Cheltenham a few weeks back 1.43 miles from the first:

A good job too as the original run had a good 600+ people a lot of the time, which was starting to get overcrowded.

I've been running the new Cheltenham one for the last couple of weeks and it makes me wonder if there are any guidelines or restrictions on course layouts? It's run across three playing fields and whilst the fields themselves are flat, to get them level they've created short, but very sharp, grass banks between them maybe 7 / 8 feet high. It's a 3 lap course and there are 2 ups and 2 downs each lap, so 12 in total. Not a problem if you're fit and well, but if you've got any issues around dodgy joints, other disabilities or are very overweight or unfit i could see that they would be an issue you might not be able to overcome. Given the participation ethos around the Parkrun, I'm surprised by the course.

I'll be running Harcourt Hill in Oxford tomorrow, which is my favourite of the four Parkruns I've tried. I was running around 22:40 the last couple of weeks on the course above. Harcourt Hill is near flat, so looking for a sub 22:30.
