Did my first of 3 US events yesterday, Depot Park. Despite my current injured, not trained much, unfit state, still came 7th of 60 in 25.21. In UK I'd expect to be 25-30 with that time.
Not sure if that shows the general poor standard of fitness here or just that serious runners here don't parkrun.
parkrun is a small bit of normality in the madness that is the US! amongst many other things this turn right on red malarkey is wierd!
Being a tourist for a few days then Clermont waterfront for thanksgiving pr on Thurs, standard seems a bit higher there, they get higher numbers and I know there are quite a few Brits going so don't expect top 10 finish there!

I did my 4th US event, Terry Hershey in Houston for the 2nd time. 12 seconds slower than January. When I'm over with work seems rude to skip home early when I can chalk up another stateside event - and I'd miss the UK Saturday morning event
Only late on Friday night I saw there's a new event in Fort Worth, it's a bit mental to drive 280 miles each way. Unless I fly back from Dallas, hmm. Anyway one for my next Texan trip.

Anybody targeting any Christmas Day runs and New Year's Day double runs?
Will be at my home of Cannon Hill on Christmas Day and will venture further afield to Conkers and nearby Rosliston for the New Year's Day double. Will also be visiting the newly launched Cosmeston Lakes event in Wales between Christmas and New Year's Day, which will get me the Pirates achievement from the Running Challenges.

We're organising Christmas day, our 5th year, so far numbers have been 289, 345, 444, 685, we're gearing up for this year being a bit busy!
Not decided yet about New Year but will be a local double.
I got the final C for Pirates at Clermont, Florida - not been making any effort to do it, it just happened! Will try to get to Ifield either side of Christmas for Wilson Index 14 &15 - I need some bits of challenges to keep the motivation going to 500 - only 187 to go!

I'm very much the same way inclined - I'm on 326 to be just ahead of you, John. Saw my very first 500 club t-shirt last week at Oaklands. Felt a bit sorry for guy, as he looked a bit uneasy with all the pairs of eyes on him!john2443 said:

Should do it more often as I went all out from the get go. When you have no idea of your pace or splits then you really push harder. Absolutely broken by the end and the quickest time on the winter course this year was the result.

A Happy / peaceful / enjoyable / PB-able Christmasparkrunday to everyone.
Weather (in the south at least) looks perfect which means we might get record numbers, just hope there are enough tokens and funnels are long enough!
Special man-hug to KTF, get those vols coordinated!

Since what happened, more of the RDs have been giving the volunteer herding a go which has taken the pressure off me and something I should have done a while ago.
Reasonable turnout at Netley today as it was a nice day but the course record won’t be broken on NYD like it has been on previous years...

This is absolutely a thing. I’m very rarely without the iPhone and earphones but every now and again I really enjoy “using the force” and just going for a run. Yes! 2 years ago we had 444, last year 685, this year 867. Surely it can't grow that much next year!We had enough tokens and were prepared for a big number but still a bit stressful!
Meanwhile, Bushy had 2500 which included 300 funnel duckers! We had 1 that we spotted and I grabbed a token and 3 I had to make adjustments for.

I may steal that!968 runners at Edinburgh parkrun yesterday. Another course record I believe. Beautiful calm morning with the sun poking through the fog. I didn’t run particularly fast as I’ve lost a bit of fitness through the winter. Still a great morning though, really enjoy starting Xmas day with a parkrun now.
Beautiful morning at Malling parkrun yesterday. First time there had been a Christmas Day event there and 324 took part.
Nice flat course to drag my mildly hungover self around to complete my 100th run.
The power of parkrun - I would never have imagined running 5k at all a few years ago, let alone travelling half an hour on Christmas morning just to do so.

Was surprised the difference it made. When you don’t know your time or splits you just keep pushing.
Be interesting to try it in a race but not sure if I am that brave yet
