New UK rules further reducing the size of gatherings says it doesn't include organized team sports, but not sure how running groups would fit in to that.
If everyone takes a placard folded up in their back pocket then if questioned you can say you're having a protest. should be fine then.
My club runs are allowed as it’s an organised event. Go out in groups of 12
I did a couple, but a little uncomfortable with it TBH & won’t go this week.
I’m fine with it personally, but it doesn’t seem right that a bunch of runners pass walkers etc
The same will apply to parkrun, can’t see how they can separate runners who sign up for it, from joe public. Perhaps oldies etc minding their own business

Ran our parkrun course this morning for the first time in a while, park was just as busy as pre-covid with loads of runners out and about. We're not expecting huge numbers when we start (we were due to start the week after lockdown began) so personally I wouldn't have a problem with starting up now. However I'd be worried about the bad press when someone traces an infection back to parkrun.

Met up with a couple of nutters who are trying to run Rotterdam, Den Haag, Leiden, Haarlem, Amsterdam and Utrecht parkrun courses in a day, cycling between them all. So about 200km cycle and 30km run. They expect to be doing Utrecht in the dark but that's their home course so at least they already know it.

One of my local parkrun's in the UK has just announce they won't be reopening in October. It's going to be tricky as some open and others don't as the ones that do open could get way more people than they can deal with if they're the only one running in an area.

yes Same here. A message on Facebook last week confirmed they won't be opening in the near future.

To be honest, I think there's a fair chance of another complete countrywide lockdown anyway...

That's going to be the problem in Norwich I reckon - if only one opens then that one will be crazy busy and to be honest I find 2 of the 4 too busy anyway. Add to that a couple of local ones are on National Trust properties (who are currently doing booked entries only) and I just can't see how we can get ours started up again.
Fingers crossed they do as I miss it!

You think so? Because the first one worked so well and made COVID go away?

Spain had a much stricter lockdown and look what good it did them.

Things need to get back to normal sooner rather than later before the economy tanks more than it is currently doing, more perfectly viable businesses go to the wall and people lose their jobs over something that has minimal impact on the majority of the population.

I didn’t say I agreed with it! biggrin I just said there’s a fair chance of it.

Not Parkrun Question
I moved three year ago, never realised that my profile hadn't changed and my local run was shown as Darlington
I changed that to my new run then logged a time for Saturday (actually did the Parkrun course where I live now) but it still shows in the results as my old run location.
Does it just take time to update?
The course where I live now is a heck of a lot tougher than Darlo...

WooHoo we're up to 100 registrations!

Not bad for a parkrun with 0 runs, we were due to start the week after the first lockdown started.

Hopefully this has sorted itself out by now! I guess it might take a day or 2 to update but if it was any longer than that I'd mail HQ and ask them.

A slightly more positive update this week from HQ.

More news coming on Friday, although probably not worth dusting off your barcode and ironing your parkrun T yet smile

Carlisle and the Pastures are both very nice. Although Sturgeon is probably building a wall.

"Formally organised outdoor sports can also restart" from 29th, but whether that's based on 2 teams playing football rather than 1500 running in Bushy is another question so it may or may not mean we'll be back on 3rd April.

I'd be surprised if we did start then, but maybe juniors will??

Our local running club are apparently waiting for some guidance from England Athletics before resuming group runs - I'm guessing that this guidance will inform parkrun's decision as well

I'd expect juniors to start first, with the 4 - 10 age restriction.

My understanding is that organised outdoor sport can resume within the sport governing body COVID secure guidance.

So my cyclocross racing can resume with grided starts and limited fields that you enter in advance. Free for all park runs might be more challenging.

I’m also hoping that the Cheshire XC champs can go ahead with some CV19 controls.
