We had a wonderful event at Mole Valley this morning. I was overrun with volunteers, the sun shone, the vineyard was looking amazing and 255 people had a lovely time. I love parkrun I really do.
A bit of tourism next weekend for us. Coed Cefn Pwll Du. The first km looks a bit steep

Marconi made some early long range transmissions from Cefn Du, but a little investigation shows that was at the other end of Wales.A bit of tourism next weekend for us. Coed Cefn Pwll Du. The first km looks a bit steep

28:47 today, happy with that. I suspect that further gains will be much smaller.
28:39 today, went out to fast and suffered later on, but it's still a PBAt this rate of improvement, I'll have a new world record by the end of the year

Noticed your profile says Derby - which run did you go to? I went to Conkers this morning to try a new one.

Post lockdown PB today 28:08, first run in VM65-69, just need to get 12 secs off to get to 60% age grade. (I used to be able to do 70% but not any more )
PS, Nice to bump into Cybertronian by pure co-incidence at Beacon parkrun Lichfield last week (and I think MadBadger was on the Ambassadors call with HQ on Thursday night??? )

There is an item I have seen on FB that all Parkrun events in France could be stopped.
It is related to new legal advice about the need for runners to have medical certificates
The local team are trying to find a solution
parkrun has never requested a medical certificate, partly because we pride ourselves on being a community event, partly because operationally we cannot do so in a meaningful way and, most importantly because we believe that doing so creates an additional barrier for those wishing to take part in free, inclusive physical activity.
Unfortunately, despite extensive consultation, including with French legal advisors, we do not currently have sufficient assurance that we are able to fully comply with French legal obligations, thus putting the organisation at risk should a serious incident occur at one of our events.
Whilst we continue to work hard to try and resolve these issues, and to receive the assurance we need that the parkrun delivery model is acceptable to the French authorities, we have taken the decision to suspend our existing events across the country.
We know that this decision will be extremely disappointing to everyone involved with parkrun France, and to the many parkrunners who regularly participate at the French events, or who were perhaps planning on visiting an event in the near future.
We will now redouble our efforts to get a quick resolution to this issue and will post further updates here whenever they are available.
You can always meet as usual on Saturday morning at 9am at the usual place to register a (not)parkrun while waiting for the resolution of this imbroglio.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and ongoing support.

I wonder how much this; "you can always meet as usual on Saturday morning at 9am at the usual place to register a (not)parkrun while waiting for the resolution of this imbroglio" will compensate. French bureaucracy + lawyers is always going to be a lot of time spent achieving nothing.
In other news, I was down in Cornwall last weekend and did the Eden Project ParkRun, which i would recommend. It's quite a hilly course as you're essentially running up and down the side of a quarry, but you get a great view while you're at it. I'm not sure the course distance is correct though as my watch measured it at 4.85km. Whilst that could be an error with the watch GPS as to the best of my knowledge GPS measures longitude / latitude more accurately than altitude, the fact that i matched my previous PB set on a flat course with a final km much faster than the previous two, i think the distance is ineed a bit short. Which is fine by me
Being in the Eden Project there's plenty of parking, toilets at the start and finish line and a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating at the finish. A great run if anyone is thinking about it.
