Preston Park 10th birthday today, a post-covid record of 650, the mayor came to say Go and cut the cake, some runners came with their skiffle band, local radio came, I was RD and the sun came out!

I'm looking forward to running next week when I can enjoy it, being RD on a busy week means I hardly get to chat to people and am always on busy looking out for things going wrong!

Talking to Parkrun royalty (in the Saudi sense of the word) this morning, 600+ and a 3 digit serial number!

A 2023 update of rankings for the fastest and slowest UK parkrun events has been published with an accompanying video explaining how the rankings were calculated. How many of the toughest ones have folks tried? I can only claim the 15th toughest out of the top 20.

Well done. I often do this run. Love the hill, especially third time round!

None of the fastest/slowest really for me so far. Without a long trip then the closest faster course is only about 75th (Burnham and Highbridge) which isn't much faster than Chipping Sodbury which is an occasional tourist run. Slower is easier to get to through, as Stroud is 21st slowest.

My regular is Pomphrey Hill 399th. Feels like it should be higher with three trips up 100 of uphill, 50m of which is very steep and another shallower climb, but the surface is generally very good and has been improved (especially up said steep hill) over the last year.

Quick scan of the list though so may have missed a better option.

Good to see Yarmouth is still the toughest - I've done it once and never want to do it again! In fact I was there last night running a 5 mile race but on the much more sensible surface of concrete on the promenade and not the shingle and sand of the parkrun.

Interesting to see Kings Lynn at number 10 quickest, it's on my list to do as I'm collecting the Norfolk parkruns but I can't see any reason it would be quicker than any other flat-ish 3 lap run around a park.

I think Lyme Park is as far down that list as I've got, it was sold to me as having fantastic views from the top...which turned out to be in cloud by the time I got there rofl

Shame it only covers UK ones though, would be interesting to see where we sit in comparison with our tarmac oval and about 2 meters of ascent, but having got used to that I think ones at the bottom of the list would kill me biggrin

I think once would be enough for me too on the sandy terrain events!

Lullingstone is the toughest I’ve completed (745/760 on the list) and whilst I wouldn’t wish to run it every week, it wasn’t too bad. The views there are lovely as well - particularly during the lavender growing season. The course briefing chap offered to buy breakfast for anyone running a parkrun pb! I don’t think he had to put his hand in his pocket - nobody was under 20 minutes on the day I was there.

My other local ‘tough’ one is Kingdom (702/760) - 3 laps of up and down with barely any flat sections. Another one for great views and it has a nice cafe.

Anyone else getting an extra parkrun in this week? Tøyen (Oslo) for me tomorrow. There's a disturbing amount of parkrun tourists in town for it.

Just seen this. I was at Tøyen too.

Been a great weekend. Good that the weather has picked up again today.

You still there? We flew out Thursday and had several days glorious sunshine before Mondays sleet. First time I've ever been on a plane that's been de-iced yesterday biggrin Lovely city, beer's not cheap though.

Holland double unfortunately clashes with holiday so can't do it this year but it's in the diary for next year. That will complete my alphabet (until Xi Min Ho parkrun starts smile )

We are over in NL for three reasons, 1) Mrs DTP is allergic to our monarchy, 2) but is happy with the long weekend, 3) we have one letter remaining. So guess what, staying by the sea in the Hague and heading along to Zuiderpark to finish off another (stupid, but addictive) Parkrun challenge!

A buggy pb of 21:07 for me today. Happy with that as a pb by 29 seconds set last November which was also the last time my daughter was willing to participate. A packet of mini jammer dodgers was used as a bribe this morning.

So last weekend, as I mentioned, we got our Z to finish the alphabet challenge. That weekend, as a nice kicker, I happened to get my second last stopwatch bingo.

Back at one of our home parkruns this weekend, and I got my last stopwatch bingo! What are the chances?! Stopwatch bingo completed in 193 runs, which I think is pretty good going. Mrs DTP has 230-odd and has one stopwatch bingo to go….
