Just seen Cook'c shot. How very bizarre. You think you'd just drop the gloves and let it hit you.

Nope, your dynamics are wrong. Monty would have made no difference to their first innings score
Could I have a lend of your crystal ball my dear chap, I'd like to know this weekend's lottery numbers.

The English bowling is irrelevent to this match.
And there was I thinking taking 20 wickets won matches, how wrong was I! As I say, we'll agree to differ.

I think the point was that Monty is unlikely to have added much to England's batting AND that England took 10 wickets in a day or so, ie, not much doubt that ENgland could tae 20 wickets - but need enough runs on the board to get the chance.

But I could be wrong.
Pray tell, just who's batting saved a game at Cardiff that ultimately won the ashes a few seasons ago he's also just had a good work out in Sydney grade with Petersham / Marrickville so has a bit more game time than some of the others.

Monty may not be Swann but he's not the clown that Tuffers or Giles were either ( over to you lot to discuss ).

For mine the England / SA team are a bit like Anna Kournikova, look pretty at times and even play well at times but can be found wanting.

The wicket doesn't seem to be doing that much. There is a bit of turn and a bit of bounce - but not exactly a dustbowl or similar.

Very odd.

Quality teams get out of situations like thsee.

Than again important quite confident in saying Pakistan produce genuine world class bowling attacks continuously.

Re: the no-ball - I thought a bowler just had to 'take' the smallest part of the line for it to be legal.

From the side camera angle it looks like he does take some of the line.

In the stump cam it looks like the very first landing, the heel takes a fraction of the line, and then as the foot completes its landing it is over.

Tight call from the 3rd ump.

For me, one side angle obscured by batsman backing up. Alternate single angle inconclusive - looks close to the line but its at a bit of an angle. Stump cam - definite no ball. Clear daylight between foot and line.

No. You'll know what it feels like when your test team are #1 for over a decade and comprise nationals from your own country...

yes Interesting how he always wears long sleeves isn't it?

If that's not a throw, then I don't know what is.
