Sorry if this has been asked before but why are they using Ding on the scoreboard and not his surname line they do for everyone else?
They do the same for Liang Wenbo. I think it's a Chinese thing, they use the names differently to us.

Le sigh. I guess I can only hope Ding whips everyone next year and the snooker is a bit quicker and more fluent.

Couldn't agree more! He's just won the World Championship and he couldn't even crack a smile. Ding looked happier than he did!

Who the fk thought it was fitting to name him "The Jester from Leicester"??

All you have to do you nuggets is congratulate him. He's probably got a lot of emotion going through his noggin right now.

One of the commentators suggested copying what they do at Augusta for the Masters and banning phones from the room entirely. Sounds like a good idea to me but I don't know how well it actually works at the Masters.

I'm disappointed that Ding lost, I thought he played better than Selby throughout the tournament before this match and he was certainly the less boring player. Still, I guess style doesn't win you championships. He gets extra points from me for coming through the qualifiers too.

I always presumed it's like calling John "little john" in robin hood when he's a mountain of a man.

Well done Selby. Might not be the most entertaining player in the world...but world champion.

Congrats to Selby - not a fan of his brand of snooker but he's a bloody good player. He's only 32 so could quite easily win another 1 or 2 titles at the Crucible.

Selby deserved it, he was playing better and won. I also think his playing style allows him to take on any other kind of player, except Hendry perhaps.
