A tedious bore v a cheating scumbag. Looks like I'll have more time than expected over the next couple of days.

You just couldn't like Selby if you reared him.

On paper, it will be a grinding Selby win. He has won almost 60% of all his matches against Higgins and is the current world no.1.

The bookies and the stats called it right. Selby has joined the elite.

While I won't watch it, of the two I think I want Higgins to win more than I want Selby to win.

Who's been cheating, and how?

He's still three frames behind but I think Selby will sleep well tonight because things were looking dire when he was 10-4 behind.

Higgins still seems to miss too many incredibly easy pots. I think Virgo described one of the missed blacks off the spot as the worst miss he's ever seen.

Is this the commentators having a dig? Does anyone suspect anything dodgy is still happening?

You could argue Higgins is cheating every time he misses a reasonably straightforward shot. Doesn't make it so. I would have thought he would be the single most closely watched player in terms of betting patterns.

The BBC seem to be happy to brush it well under the carpet with their sycophantic 'talk to the family' segments. Whereas I'd be asking the wker of Wishaw's mum what she thought when she saw her son accept £300k for throwing a frame.

I can't bring myself to support Selby but anything's got to be better than that tattie faced fk winning it.

Quite unusual that the BBC said that tickets were on sale for the final today, is this the final that nobody wanted? I've been watching the "sport" since the late 70's but I'm struggling to be enthused about this years final. I guess like Formula 1 I tune in because of glory years past.

Higgins is playing some very odd shots at the start of the action scratchchin

Why do I have an image in my head of a "Big Man" type from Chewin' The Fat watching this with great interest..?

Not exactly fast paced and fluid so far today. Fair play to Selby though; 4-10 to 9-10 is gritty stuff.

Equally, for Higgins to repeat the same foul and pot the white three times in a row is a good effort!

In a random rant, one thing i hear a lot of from the commentators is how good the referees are. When i was watching the masters at Alexandra Palace back in January, i was starting to get really quite p*ssed off with Jan Verhaas, who seemed to think snooker is all about how quiet he could keep the crowd. It's not something i noticed when just watching it on TV, but any kind of crowd response, be it cheering, laughing etc was immediately stamped on. You'd think you were in the library of a church in the middle of a paint drying contest.
