Agreed. Unless there's another sportsperson who's become the GOAT in their sport this year, and is less annoying than Lewis. I don't think there is, though.

Got to be Lewis surely this year.

Tyson Fury is popular and it's a great story with him, but for what Lewis has done this year in the sport its got to be him.

Hamilton stands head and shoulders above probably the least inspiring list the BBC has ever come up with.

Agree but who else would you have included?

Jimmy Anderson or Ben Stokes from cricket and Adam Peaty from swimming off the top of my head. Certainly I think the two cricketers should be there ahead of Broad, and Peaty is quietly going about being possibly the greatest and most successful British swimmer of all time.

Tyson Fury has asked to be removed from the list as he's not interested.

Good for him I say...

I think they should replace him with that bloke off the Youtube ... (Joe Wicks)

That’s a good shout. Joe wicks made workout videos and live streamed them all the way through lockdown he’s done some great work. I’d maybe even vote for him over Hamilton actually.

Really ? I was going to vote for him . I guess that just means the one without a personality will win it.

Bizarrely the BBC say they’re not going to remove him from the list

I would love to see Fury get win it, he's pulled himself back from the brink to get back to the top, plus he comes across a lot better thses days, other than him it's a really poor list.

A top dude, no doubt, but Keep Fit is not a sport.

One for a Pride of Britain award, maybe.

I believe Sir Tom Moore won that award, quite rightly so in my opinion.

I think it was bikers and the Irish voting for 3 times consecutive WSB Champion Jonny Rea in 2017 that caused the BBC to select their own finalists.
What's Jonny done since? Oh yes, 3 more consecutive world championship titles, and he doesn't even make the BBC shortlist.

Wicks is one of the most annoying tts to ever appear on TV, he can fk right off IMHO

I am no F1 or Hamilton fan but it has to be him, watching what he did in Turkey with difficult track conditions (resurfacing and rain) was just magical, he just seems to squeeze so much more out of the car than Bottas. Though Ash Sutton should also get a mention in my list this year, but BBC don't seem to care much about touring cars

They really don't.

I realised years ago that the nominations are just the sports that the BBC like rather than achievements in any sport when Andy Priaulx won the World Touring Car Championship three years in a row and didn't even get a mention.

Bizarrely? There is nothing bizarre about that particular decision. The whole business is a complete and utter farce from start to finish. It's clearly designed for half-wits and Facebook devotees. When my party get into power they will be the first ones up against the wall. Just you wait and see.

I really like him. hehe

I love his enthusiasm as we’re doing some planking or whatever. He’s got a podcast now where he interviews people. It’s perhaps not his forte but you should definitely check it out.

To the general sports media (and a lot of the public) motorsport = F1. Nothing else counts. Johnny Rea getting a podium place a few years ago forced them to make a shortlist - and since then he hasn't been on it.
