I always thought Greg Rusedski held the record for the fastest serve and he would have been after Rosco Tanner. I don't know if Tanner's is an unofficial speed or what but certainly Wiki and everything else both now and then said 149 was a record.
"Rusedski held the record for fastest serve at 149 miles per hour until Andy Roddick broke it."
although clocked on radar it is not official but Sam Groth hit this, 263kph!!:"Rusedski held the record for fastest serve at 149 miles per hour until Andy Roddick broke it."

Watched a bit of the Indian Wells tournament last week and once again Djokovic and Federer looked a level above the rest. Men's tennis is not really a sport where players in their 30s can excel at the highest level yet Federer is still playing some amazing stuff - long may it continue.
I also see that Del Potro is back this week after his wrist surgery - hope his injury worries are now behind him.

Is there a more unpleasant sportsperson out there than Kyrgios at the moment? He is the Joey Barton of tennis. Grade A cockend.

Murray wins the Madrid title by beating Nadal in straight sets. Murray played well but I've never seen Nadal make so many unforced errors on clay as he has this season. He's already lost to Fognini twice on clay this year (And a final on the same surface vs Djokovic where he was was completely outplayed). I wonder if age (and his grueling style of play) is finally catching up with him.

I would say being at the top so long then having to recover from injury so many times has finally caught up with him mentally. A lot of the bad errors he made showed no conviction like he never expected to make those shots. Murray on the other hand showed such little of the usual negativity through the whole tournament and I have to assume that's Bjorkmans input.

Murray's BH was what won him the match. Djokovic has been applying the tactic of going to Nadal's FH with cross court BH and then pull the trigger on the down the line BH at opportune moments.
I'm genuinely impressed with Murray's clay form. Bodes well for Wimbledon.
Bodes better for the French I'd say I'm genuinely impressed with Murray's clay form. Bodes well for Wimbledon.
"Marriage works"
I don't think Murray's buying into the hype. He'll be happy he beat Nadal "for the record" but off it he knows that Nadal was far from his best and everyone knows at the moment Djokovic is in a class of his own. He is by far the favourite for French especially after yesterdays match.
I call it Djokovic v Federer/Murray/Nishikori/Nadal final at Roland Garros (depending on who's on which side of the draw etc) with Djokovic taking the title.

The Wimbledon parking thread is over 4 years old but managed to get a couple of centre Court tickets for 1/4 finals day (2nd Wednesday) this year, a couple of years ago we managed Court 1 for the same day, problem is by the time you add 4 train fares and a hotel room it's pretty much unaffordable so thinking of driving down from near Manchester in the morning then back again after the tennis.
Any ideas for parking around there ? Or somewhere reasonable to park on the tube line that stops at Wimbledon ?
I'm thinking about a 3hr drive down to London so need to be at Wimbledon about 11am to queue up etc to get in for a couple of on the day tickets.
Any ideas ??

Wonder how many people will be regretting their condemnation of Mauresmo now.
To speedyguy above btw there's Wimbledon's own parking facility across the road that costs £25 if pre-booked http://www.theaa.com/wimbledon/

It looks like Nadal will be seeded 7th for the French Open - that will make the draw interesting as despite his poor form of late none of the top 4 will want to face him in the quarter final should he get that far.
The tournament organisers have said they won't boost his seeding which is a surprise given that they have the discretion to do so. If I remember correctly I think Wimbledon regularly play around with the seeding list.

Spoke to soon, Tonga (with biased crowd help beat #4 seed Berdych was a great match to watch!
Tsonga did well and Berdych was as ever a disappointment, I call Nishikori to end Tsonga in 3/4 sets. Federer v Monf is a hard one to call, depends which Monf turns up tomorrow.Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
