Monfils is a clown. He's got the physical gifts but if someone transplanted Federer's brain, Monfederer would be sitting on 21 slams right now biggrin

Well I always enjoyed watching Tim Henman (had the talent for a slam, but not the temprement - though you could argue temprement is part of talent). At least he tried to get into the net and mix it up a bit.

Have to agree, I think Henman's game was from a slightly older era and he made the very best of what he had, an overachiever if you will, I too enjoy watching Henman play, a great touch player and imo right up there as one of the best volleyers of his generation, if not the best.

His run to the semis of the french was great, just watch the highlights of his quater final match against Chela, he was on fire. He should not have lost to Coria in the semis but that seems to have been his fate, he had some glaring weaknesses, his forehand would break down and his backhand was not the best but he still managed to become a regualar top 5 player

much maligned is our Tim, a truly world cass player just not one of the greats

poor Miss watson got another tennis lesson from Radwanska, who is one of the only women players I actually enjoy watching, I think watson will have learned a lot from Radwanska and should come back stronger

I think he needs to develop a proper weapon, it used to be his speed but after his big injury he may have to think again, in relative terms still a bit of a pusher imo

Maybe my recollection of Henman is a bit fuzzy - he was past his best by the time I was 18 really.

But my recollection was the semi against Ivanisavic (01?)when he was over him like a cheap suit, but a break in play meant the momentum was lost. On his day Henman could take on anyone, but my abiding memory was always the unforced error count. There were certainly times he seemed to find the net more often than go over it. - But maybe I am just jaded!

fantastic game by Djokovic and Wawrinka, feel for Stan but Djokovic is such a mental beast

is it just or does Wawrinka have the best one hander in the business? he really should be a solid top 10er just lacks a little bit mentally but that was the strongest I have seen him in a big/close match and hopefully he will build on that, a great player to watch

Stan has one of the nicest looking and effective one handers, he's always been a favorite to watch, hopefully he can get back up to the top 10 if he keeps playing like that. Even though he eventually lost, he didn't crack under pressure (eg vs Seppi at the Italian last year) he just got outlasted by the Number 1, no shame in that.

Need Gasquet and Federer to get through, three one handers in the quarters would be nice.

well you have got Almagro and Chardy who are new to the Aus quarters (Chardy's first qf) but cannot see them getting any further

I too would like to see a couple of youngsters mixing it up but if they are not good enough they are not good enough

There just does not seem to be any tension, any excitement at the top of the game, with one match being an obvious exception.

The top four seeds have dropped 3 sets between them in getting to the QFs.

I understand and agree with the comments about the quality and consistency of the top four and lack of young pretenders, but I am also happy to predict that 6 of these QFinalists + Nadal are going to be the makeup at the other three GSs this year.

Getting a bit too dominant.

Yey for Chardy! Murray to win in 4.

One set all now in Djoko vs. Berdych match. The former walked the first one but tiring now after that monumental previous match?

fking AWESOME return on the second point of this video. Full stretch but still nailed it biggrin Always liked Mark's game, he is a big guy but had great movement. His racquet is the heaviest I've ever picked up, an absolute beast of a frame at 400g. That's enough to dislocate your bloody shoulder if you are not careful! biggrin

Ferrer getting the job done, what a fighter. As long as Murray and Novak are fighting fit though, Ferrer isn't going to pick up a slam. Quite annoying for him as he maximises everything he has and is one of the hardest workers on tour. Monfils is just a superb athlete, naturally gifted to the extreme which affects his mental game as he always believes get through on that alone and expends far too much energy showcasing his athleticism. He makes the game great to watch though. Such is life..

well Murray's easy draw continues as he wipes the floor with Chardy (a man who beat him in Cincy in August) I wonder if his easy draw is good or bad for him as he has not been playing up to his usual high standards so far, I did not watch it but by all accounts this was a good performance, he will need to up his game in the next round...but perhaps he is already starting to peak at the right time and if he does i think he could win this one

I called Andy's path before his first match. Straightforward wins without any problems, a battle in the semis and the title in 4 sets. Years of backing him finally paying off wink

Regarding the bet of Andy not winning the slam which Andy delivered (just in time), I'll get the charity name for the £20 donation shortly. smile

ETA: I do like Tsonga but I really want Federer to come through. Far better opponent for Andy in the semis (for spectators at least). Also, can't take seeing two double-handed backhands on a court, they should be banned biggrin

well after watching Stan's backhand for 5 hours I agree all 2 handers should be banished! nice to see 2 of them in the quarters

Tsonga has troubled Fed for a couple of years now and looks like he is doing it again, not surprised on this slow court, he was always going to struggle with Tsonga's power yes I too like Tsonga but rooting for Rog as always but if Tsonga wins Murray almost a dead cert for final
