Was probably me, which she is. When she’s in competition mode though she turns into an absolute beast. [bold]You daren’t say hello or look her way in the player’s tunnel [/bold]that’s for sure!

Yeah, she sounds absolutely lovely!

I love how she tried to bring her kid into it on court, (I'm a mom, I'm not a cheat etc), for fks sake, she acts like she is the first sportsperson to squeeze out a kid!!

What's hilarious is she said she was not cheating and there was no coaching going on, on the court and in the official press conference, meanwhile, outside, her coach was admitting the press that that was precisely what was going on and he was apologising!

What a pair!

Couldn't believe what I was watching. Everything many suspected of her finally came out.

She knows this is now actually quite serious and has played a really big card in absolute desperation. If there is justice, she will be banned. No amount of sweet simpering can erase the truth. She and Sharapova are incredibly indicative of the times we live in...

I agree she started playing the cards and the next one will be the racism card, almost certainly.

What I find so obtuse about such people and their supporters, is that the player's sex absolutely has nothing to do with it at all. If am man behaved in the way she did, he should and I think in the "modern game" WOULD receive exactly the same treatment. And why not?
If she wants to play a sexism card, she needs to somehow show that she was singled out as being a woman, and yet there was another woman in the game, who seemed to get on fine with the umpire.

If anything, the umpire merely being "ist". He did not rule against her for being a woman, merely being a !

We don't see Federer and Nadal acting like that. Both able to suck it all up and handle any outcome with discernable grace.

100% agree. Wins a major tournament yet the story, as always, is about Williams.

Tired of her stupid comments and her emotional outbursts now. Time to shut up and/or retire.

Disgraceful behaviour from entitled Williams. She should be given large fine as well. Nothing but true colours.

I'm equally, if not more worried about the USTA President's glossing over this:

http://www.sportingnews.com/us/tennis/news/usta-st...

Williams' influence seems wholly malign to me, and nothing to be held up as a role model.

No surprises she behaves like that when their are sycophants like this, who should be coming down hard. The other player wins and the team serena crowd boo.

The more I think of it, the angrier I get. Worst part - telling the umpire that he'll never umpire one of her matches again?! Unreal; is she saying that she can pick and choose the umpires for her matches?

I can see Billie Jean King and Azarenka have both played the sexism card as well. Grow up. She was in the wrong and got penalised.

And for the love of Christ, stop going on about having a baby! Everyone has babies! Why does she think she is so special?!

A very good tennis player, but a pretty vile, egomaniacal, over entitled bully. Far too many sycophants around people like her, excusing her behaviour (like the crowd in the stadium it seems). Can you imagine Nadal acting like that?!

Rant over. Hope she retires soon, or even better, keeps playing and keeps getting beaten.

Have to agree I’m afraid, they broke the mould when Williams and Sharapova appeared. Can’t watch either, the ‘honey sugar love you guuuys’ routine is as transparently false as Sharapove claiming her guttural shouting as she hits the ball is somehow not unsportsmanlike.

But if she wasn’t coached she would be upset. That is what started the problem. A thumbs up is not coaching.

But it wasn't just a thumbs-up. What I watched was clearly some advice on court-positioning...

It wasn't just a thumbs up but it shouldn't matter. She got a warning, nothing more. At worst, a questionable umpire decision that didn't cost her anything. And racket abuse is, always had been and always will be one of the most pathetic displays of infantile tantrum throwing in all of sport. Imagine seeing a teenager at the local tennis club breaking his or her racquet after losing a point?! They'd be a laughing stock. Quite rightly a point deduction.

Noticeable that current and former pro opinions on this seem very inconsistent/split, judging by quotes on the BBC report.

He admitted ‘coaching’. It’s the umpires prerogative. Her subsequent melt down is all on her. Anything else is cow towing. Huge fine coming.

Yes, everyone does a thumbs up like that, all fertive like, forward and backwards and with two thumbs up like the side of a net!! Then follow up with a cheeky litte fertive "nod". Yes, that's how everyone gives a thumbs up for encouragement!

Forget ,of course the fact he later admitted it was coaching!

" I’ll be honest, I was coaching. …Sascha (Osaka’s coach), he was coaching too. This umpire has worked Nadal’s matches and Toni was coaching every point.” Mouratoglou told ESPN.

But yeah, it was just a thumbs up!! LOLOL

As for the game violation, for "calling him a thief"...….no love, it was because you threatened him with never working on one of YOUR courts again, you demanded an apology as you were "not cheating", you called him a "liar" ……… when you had your hissy at the match ref, you said "I told him to apologise", rather than you "asked" him.

You're an entitled ahole and she beat you fair and square in my book. She'd already just broken you, the game penalty was her serve game, they gave you the serve next again, and she hardly bothered returning any of your shots, so SHE rather sportingly gave you the same as the ref gave her IMO.

I hope the sychophants go and watch and listen to it all again. Ref played by the rules, she may not like the first warning, but she was given it, and it was never retracted. if you keep poking the bear, the rest just follows from the rules. Or did you just drop the racket?

Almost certainly because they don't want to be accused of being hypocrites.

But the rules are the rules.

And she did not lose because of the ref, she lost because the other player was better. Look at the stats, watch the game. She was a disgrace and I for one hope she disappears up her own proverbial now, and we start to see more players with the sort of class of Osaka.

This is a woman championed in our primary schools as a "strong role model". Good luck with selling that to the kids on Monday! lol

For me the simple issue here is one of bullying and disrespect.

It appears to be a common problem in certain sports where individuals believe their position or role is more important than another.

Ramos is a respected professional. Williams seems to be blind to the hypocrisy of accusing him of unprofessional behaviour whilst at the very same moment behaving in exactly that way.

I'd like to see all umpires and referees in all sports given the power and direction to red card such behaviour immediately.

Bullying in any area of society needs to be addressed.

Sexism in an all womens match? Hmm.

What a horrible Serena Williams is.

Or is she finally admitting to being what the whole world thinks, a man?

Wow. A new super level of ignorance.
