I think she deserved it. Yes I am sure the crowd helped but also at just 15 to cope with that level of attention and actually come back and win the points, she definitely earned it.

Well played to the youngster - a great win. Thought the crowd were harsh though - cheering unforced errors etc as if someone had just hit the shot of the week? Not very fair.

Women's tennis has been much more enjoyable than men's this week (Nadal/Kyrgios aside).

I don't know, I did find the Gauff/Hercog match a baseline snore-athon played at a dainty 1960s pace.
If Gauff want's to emulate the Williams, she'll need to bulk up a bit and get near the bloody net.

To have the presence of mind to change your game plan when under pressure like that was amazing.
In a couple of years when she has filled out a bit she will be a real force.
Best thing to happen to women’s tennis in years.

Out of interest, how much regulation is there in terms of racket design/setup? I mean, in F1, they're quite specific. I've been playing with different rackets and have noticed that I can go from complete newbie sending balls flying randomly to hero with great slices and powerful, controlled forehand returns. Just wondering what would happen if everyone had to use the same racket as they do the same make of ball at Wimbledon.

I see what you mean (just checked the replay). All a bit defensive with the backhand slices, though. I guess they're the safest ones.

My coach suggested that I don't bother learning a single handed topspin backhand because unless you get a lot of practice in, it's not as reliable as a double handed forehand, and instead recommended that if I couldn't do a topspin forehand then I slice.

I wonder do the Wimblydum authorities pay for all these ex champions like Laver and Billie J.K. to come across here
for a freebie holiday fortnight ?

Could that money be better spent on tennis facilities for young players ?

I'm all for a bit of team camaraderie, but in doubles matches like the one that's on and winding me up at the minute, why do they have to fist bump or palm slap after EVERY fooking point? Even if they've just list the point.

Seems to be the done thing, even on lost points.

These days we would speculate a lot if a couple didn't do it.

Serena and Andy going well.

Imagine being these two randoms thinking your first round mixed match will be out on a court in the middle of nowhere only to find you’re playing Murray and Williams and you’re on Centre....

Good to see the fun side of Serena, her meltdown when she swore to kill a line judge is just a bad memory.

Dan Evans is playing some cracking tennis.

Also enjoying the rage on Twitter over Casualty being postponed. Who knew so many people cared....
