You just know that as long as he can win matches like that, he’s never going retire.

Absolutely unbelievable performance! He isn't playing for grand slam wins anymore, but wins like this must feel like that to him

Off the scale tenacity from Murray. There's nobody like him for sheer bloody minded determination. I've been watching tennis for well over half a century and I can't remember anyone with anything like the grit he's got. What's really heartening is that the quality of his play has gone up to match that level of determination. Last year you were waiting for him to knock one long or into the net but suddenly he's not that guy any more.

Saturday vs Bautista Agut, seeded 42 places above Murray, that'll test him again.
Head to head is 3-3. Agut's three wins all came after Murray's three but Murray's playing a lot better now. There's only a year between them so fitness shouldn't be an issue.

The scheduling is bloody stupid and borderline unfair.

Murray is a bloody terminator although how he’ll have anything in the tank after that I don’t know…

Agreed this was made him so good chasing down every single point if he thought it would make a difference.

I agree, but I've watched tennis a long time too, Jimmy Connors had the same mindset, he still holds the record for most tournaments won I think. Nadal (although not now) would chase down points that seemed unwinnable too. smile

Fair points but I doubt either of them came back from two sets down as often as Murray has. And against much younger men too.

You're right there, Murray has won from 2-0 down over 10 times I think!

Connors did get to the semi finals of the US Open in 1991 at the age of 39 as a wildcard. I remember reading about him shambling around on a drip after 1 victory. eek

Bautista had a 5 set match today but unlike Murray’s nearly six hours it didn’t even last 3.
