Just idly wondering why they bother with line judges any more when Hawkeye could do every 'out' call automatically.

Tradition and jobs for the boys and girls, I expect. Bit silly, really.

Just about to google if Venus had won. She did look injured, having said that wearing a bandage that looked like something your gran might wear for her veins may or may not have helped. I assume it was more than that. Poor losers.

Can it give you an instantaneous call every time, or do you have to stand around and wait after every shot while it decides?

I imagined it's instantaneous. Maybe it isn't.

I imagine the result is instant but it takes a bit of time for the graphics to build to be shown.

Similar tech in cricket when then want ball tracking you often hear the 3rd umpire day waiting for ball tracking to build. Possibly that's a bit complicated as it needs to workout where the ball was going for tennis it just needs to know if it hit a line or not

Good point, but I would say the players and umpire just need to hear the "ping" that it's out. There's no need for the visual on court, it was out or it was in.

Line judges were done away with at the Aussie Open a couple of years ago, replaced by electronic. The target is to eliminate all judges by 2025.
I suspect Wimbledon may keep them so they can continue to collect sponsorship money from whomever outfits them.

I wonder if Alcaraz has set himself the target of not only not losing any sets at Wimbledon but also not losing any games? On this showing so far you could almost see it happening.

V good
It's hard to see anything other than injury stopping him getting to the Final.

Why do the BBC insist on using McEnroe for comments? I don't mind him but he must be horrendously expensive when there is no advertising to pay for it. Licence fee money could be spent elsewhere. Not as quite as bad as paying Becker but still, makes little sense. I much prefer the Amazon commentators who must be a tiny fraction of his fees.

Sad to see Jodie Burrage getting rinsed on Centre, but feared it would only go this way.
