Never seen a maltby one not even for sale. Was looking because of the local connection.
I used to have a lovely '43 dated de-act No.4 that was a Maltby.Sold it 6 months ago to help fund the live stuff.
The one at Bisley is the 2nd Maltby that I know of currently up for sale. Devizes Gunsmiths currently has a mint one for sale as well.
Im happy with my long branch.
I've got one more rifle on order and when that comes that's it now for a few years.
Would have preferred a maltby one but as I've rescued this one and it's very accurate it's all I need.
Unless I see a Jungle Carbine around for not a lot

I saw 3 for sale at Bisley on Saturday.Getting mine 12 months ago, has prompted another club member to recently buy one, as well as a probationer that has now got one on his wish list
Only additional rifle I'd like would be a straight-pull M1 Carbine (but I can't see that ever happening tbh)
^ What do you know about the straight pull M1 carbines? Always liked the look of them.
Chiappa do a .22LR copy of the M1. Looks really, really nice. Almost bought one a while back. The problem with them is when you look close it only has plastic sights and online reviews say the reliability could be better. But they only cost a bit over £300 new, so if you have a spare .22 slot......

Ian at ITL Shooting gets them made, he was only doing a handful per year, but I've very recently heard from one of his customers that there won't be any more made.Prior to the Bisley show, he may have had only 2 left?

Are there many Erma .22lr M1 carbines in the UK? There are a few of them here in France and they are quite cheap, I have often been tempted to get one but never got around to it.Chiappa do a .22LR copy of the M1. Looks really, really nice. I did consider one, but bought the GSG Stg.44 instead.

I got the MP5 A4, which has the short barrel and the fixed stock.
I'd get the dealer to hold a spare magazine for you as they may also become scarce.
Can you recommend anywhere to get spare mags? They seem to be scarce already, had no luck finding anywhere with them still in stock on google,I'd get the dealer to hold a spare magazine for you as they may also become scarce.
Well back to my search for a 357 lever action: I've been sent to work in a remote office this week, so I did what anybody would do if they were working out of a remote office - sneak out of the office early and go to the local gun shop
They had a Rossi stainless 357. All the reviews seem to say they are quite accurate. They are light, which I like. But the finish on them is a bit ordinary. Obviously built to a low price point. Machining marks. Hard edges around the loading port. Think it may be even more noticeable on the stainless version.
OTOH the blued steel version is now available under £500.
So it could be that or the Chiappa for £700. I think the Uberti is over budget at £1100.

Well the prices of the 3 of them mimic the relative quality of the 3 makes.
The Chiappa sits in the middle ground between the Rossi and the Uberti.
The Chiappa and Rossi are of course more directly comparable being based on the same action, whereas the Uberti is based on the earlier '73 action.
CG Firearms have what looks like a nice second hand .357 Winchester 94AE for sale for £575....?

Here's a legal question:
Do you need to keep firearms separate from all ammunition, or separate only for ammunition for that firearm? For example, can you store a 22 rifle in the same compartment as 357 ammunition?
As said above, it depends on your FEO.Do you need to keep firearms separate from all ammunition, or separate only for ammunition for that firearm? For example, can you store a 22 rifle in the same compartment as 357 ammunition?
Generally, its seen as preferable to have a separate lockable facility for ammo (storing removed bolts from rifles and/or mags etc in here is a good practice as well) whether its one of the inside separate top boxes available in many cabinets, or as a totally separate ammo cabinet.
It also depends on what you have/are applying for in term of ammo allowance. Whatever its stored in needs to be big enough for all ammo allowance, so if going for a large ammo allowance, one of the built in lockable top boxes might not be big enough.
I went for a rifle cab, plus a separate ammo/pistol box bolted on top. Always better to have too much space than too little.
