Took the missus shooting on Saturday.

Rented a 20 bore with 21 gram loads.

She is only little so the arms tired after a while and it was hot.

Hit around 20/50 which was encouraging. We will be going again very soon.

Sounds good.
How did she cope with recoil ?
I only ask as 20's are lighter so tend to be a bit sharper to shoot.
I see some Ladies shoot Autos for that reason.

I just removed a section of skirting board...

Lol that looks quite drastic! I had a little wooden shelf made instead which puts it flush against the wall and supports the weight.

Nice idea.....

I must admit, I removed the skirting as well, but thats because I've bolted mine into the wall AND into the concrete floor slab....

I am in France. You need a trigger lock to transport category B guns (handguns and most semi auto rifles) although I tend to leave the lock on even when there in the safe.

I've sometimes wondered about the purpose of trigger locks. If someone were to manage to steal the gun, then they would have all the time in the world to remove the lock. Has there ever been a shooting incident anywhere which would have been prevented by a trigger lock and not just by sensible storage?

Nice gun btw and a good price. I just can't get myself excited enough by a 12 inch barrel and grip extension to buy a two foot long revolver in the UK.

Do you have to demonstrate a good reason e.g. member of a target shooting club, to buy a handgun or a semi-auto in France?

Anyone used Southern Gun Company? Thinking of a .223 lever release.

Plenty have and their lever releases are pretty good by all accounts, but Bob there is an acquired taste apparently.

You may well be right regarding the trigger lock but for me, as I have to have them anyway I feel I might as well use them all the time as an extra precaution. You need to be an "active" member of a club (shoot at least 3 times a year) to own a handgun or semi auto rifle with a detachable magazine and/or a capacity of more than 2+1. Black powder and guns pre 1900 are not on license and everything in between is category C which means you just need to be a member of a club..

Sounds like yet another reason to add to my list of why we should move!

I have one on video on youtube, they are excellent firearms, just slightly heavy for standing but perfect for everything else, handles RG milsurp no problem.

Home visit done and dusted, happy with the safes etc.

Only 'negative' was having one of my ammunition limits reduced.

Apparently now have to wait for my shooting club, referees and doctors to be contacted and then it'll be granted, ETA 'a couple of months' rolleyes.

They may not contact your doctor and may only contact one referee.

What ammo did you ask for and what did you get btw?

Well, I decided not to flaff around with mid-range red dot sights or experiment with airsoft red dot sights, so I bought an Aimpoint from overseas at about 60% of the UK price.
