Mosin Nagant?

I bought an M38 as one of my first rifles, it's great fun on guest days with the big ball of flame, the wrath of an angry god noise and the earth shaking shockwave. The fact that it is cheap to feed on milsurp is an added bonus laugh
You guessed it! Although I'm considering changing it to 7.62x39 for the Vz58 Mars.

laugh

They are quite dramatic....even more so in a semi-confined space.

Some of our more senior club members mutterings when two of us our firing our No.5 Lee-Enfield's are bad enough, I suspect something Soviet would have them reaching for the valium... rofl

After some advice here.
I'm looking to get into shooting, pistol and rifle.
Only place I can think of to install a gun cabinet is in the garage or in the cupboard where the boiler is, as it's a modern house and so there aren't any places really to install one as wouldn't want it downstairs, so only leaves my bedroom but just had all wardrobes fully fitted etc with no spaces etc.
Garage isn't damp etc but does have a dryer in there so it does get warm when it's on and obviously it is cold in winter.
So just wondering where would be best?
Would there be a problem putting it in a cupboard with a boiler, would it be frowned upon in case boiler went on fire? It's a cupboard that used to have the cylinder in there etc so it's not just a very small cupboard.

Should be out of sight to passing guests and things like tradesmen. I think having near the boiler may not be a good idea just down to when the boiler is serviced the guy doing the service will see the cabinet. How about loft?

Another option is to break the guns down so they fit in a smaller cabinet.

Lastly, ring your FEO and they will give you advice.

Have you found a club yet? I assume you know most clubs have a 3-6 month probationary period?

If you join a club you can probably also store your rifle there. It'll (probably) be safer and in the right place for when you need it 90% of the time. It may make your application a little easier as well

Yeah suppose FEO mightn't like it if by the boiler for those reasons, good point. Although the person who will ever repair or service it is a mate but get your point.
Think I might speak to the FEO then regards advice, are they usually helpful etc with just a phone Call?
Thanks

Do most clubs usually have the facility to store people's rifles etc?
I've been after doing it for years but due to kids taking up most of my spare time never had chance.

I've only been a member in 2 clubs (1 in Essex and 1 Surrey) and they both had / have member rifle lockers that were available to rent for a nominal rate

Most Police forces don't like cabinets fitted in garages, so I would ask the question of your local force beforehand, but given you aren't a club probationary member yet, I wouldn't go fitting a cabinet yet.

As another poster said, in a cupboard where a trademen might have to go, i.e to service a boiler would also likely be a no-no.

I was told by mine garage was definitely a no go.

He wasn't too keen of lofts either, however I know some people have that n his area.

I think loft comes down to access. If you have easy access you should be oK. If its tricky then the FEO will be worried that you might not bother to use the cabinet leading to insecure firearms.

Best place is FAC holders bedroom if possible. Next best place would be a spare room where no one sleeps, so office or such like.

I believer they are becoming more tolerant of lofts and party walls. Mine is.

Usually, best place is a spare room not used for sleeping by anyone, and preferably with a lockable door.

I emailed the Cambridgeshire constabulary about two weeks ago and have heard nothing back. It appears that there ar eno forms - it is just issued to you.
