The PH Gun Cabinet - Shooting Matters

Cripes. Makes note to self not to use a shotgun on live targets.

What do you do with 30-odd dead birds?
The estate will (should) provide the guns with a brace of birds to take home. ---

The rest are sold into the food chain for eating.
My favorite is Partridge stuffed with Gorgonzola wrapped in pancetta.
One of my shotguns fell over at the weekend - hit a radiator on the way down. I was cleaning it and had rested it against the wall before returning it to the safe. Fortunately it's not my regular favourite gun, but still a lovely thing - S/S double trigger.
It has a scratch near the top of the blued barrels - about the length of a little finger nail.
Is this something I could repair myself? I don't particularly want to go to the expense of having the barrels re-blued as it's a gun I don't use.

Good luck! Which gun are you getting first, the Silver Pigeon or the AYA?
I was completely set on getting the Silver Pigeon, but now I've also had a few shoots with a 525 and I seem to be getting on really well with that. I knew I'd need a bigger cabinet! When I first got into clay busting, I bought a new Browning 525 and shot ok with it, however, the blacking fell off the barrels like nothing else. I took it down to the Browning HW and they said it was all down to me, despite having cleaned after session and oiled it up....
Pissed me right off, so I sold it and bought a used Beretta silver Pig for half the money...
It felt better, shot better, and has lasted for years...
Wouldnt go back to Browning after that tbh....

Just back to work from having a home visit from the Wiltshire FEO. Very relaxed and seemed quite informal. Had a quick look at the cabinet, chatted mostly about safety and the reasons why I want a SGC.
She mentioned that the rest of the checks had been completed, and a certificate should be with me within 2 weeks

Some discussion on another forum about upcoming changes to firearms laws, this was brought up after a FOI request apparently.
Seems there is a plan to (attempt to) move Section 2 onto Section 1 and do away with the SGC. That would make all grants "may" rather than "shall" for SGC.
Also there is a desire to make background checks extend to spouse and possibly other residents of the holders property.
Also mention of making all semi automatic Section 5 so that would basically ban .22 LBP and .22 semi rifle.

There's plenty of discussion on several shooting forums, a lot of it from people who have heard or read something, somewhere, at some time without checking the accuracy of the information.Seems there is a plan to (attempt to) move Section 2 onto Section 1 and do away with the SGC. That would make all grants "may" rather than "shall" for SGC.

There are no plans at the moment to do anything other than effectively ban .50 cal and MARS rifles. That's what everyone interested in shooting should be concentrating on. Any rumours are just a distraction.

Yes, ACPO recommendations from 2015. Seems there is a plan to (attempt to) move Section 2 onto Section 1 and do away with the SGC. That would make all grants "may" rather than "shall" for SGC.

You forgot to mention centre-fire LBR as well as .22LBP.
All part of the nibbling away at all the bits until there's nothing left to nibble away at. It might well take a good few years yet for the above to happen (if it does).
All because its easier to target law abiding citizens than the scrotes who don't give a f***.
