Where is the best place to sell old shotguns?
Get a price from your local dealer, or there are some auction houses, the main one is Holts. They do free valuation days etc, all info on their website.
Or you can sell on Gunstar or some other sites where you place your own advert.
I'm thinking of a low cost 22LR rifle for some cheap precision shooting practice when I can't turn up to Bisley with a .308 or just don't feel like blowing a chunk of change on centerfire ammo and Bisley range fees.
I know some bolt action thing would make the most sense, but I keep looking at semi-autos and copies of military rifles like the Erma M1 carbine 22LR copy. There have been a couple of times when I've almost sprung for the GSG MP40 22LR, the complete opposite of a precision practice shooting 22
Anyway, any ideas for a 22LR which I can use as a substitute for shooing a .308, which is still fun?

Go for it........ as it opens up the world of Mini Rifle comps as well as being just plain fun things to shoot. The lure of GSG's StG 44 was too much for me...
and as well as being huge fun, is surprisingly accurate as well, even more so if you mount a red dot, which I'm having to go down that route due to ageing eyesight issues
I think my 3 main choices would be:
Kriss DMK22
S&W 15-22
Ruger 10/22
In that order.
Left field if you are not bothered about accuracy
Walther (not GSG) MP5 SD6. Then trick it out with a few bits from HK parts.
I am actually considering one myself, they stopped making them now and the very last of the stock is going through dealers as we speak. Another 6 months and I think there will be no more.

Really happy with my MP5 A4, Know of a dealer with a new MP5 SD6 on the shelf if either of you are interested.Kriss DMK22

I have a Walther MP5 already. It's a load of fun I really should get a magazine fed bolt action with a scope as a cheap substitute 22 trainer; I just can't help myself and keep looking at MP40s and Erma M1s.

Trainer for what....?Shooting a .22RF is nothing like shooting a full bore, so, what exactly would you learn from it?
Teaching someone the basics on .22RF before graduating to full-bore is one thing, but once you've stepped up to and own a full-bore, what exactly are you going to learn more from by going back to a .22RF for target work?

You can use a .22 as a trainer for long range full bore shooting, but it very much depends on the specifics of what you're trying to improve. Positional shooting, wind reading, timing, trigger control could all be worked on if you need to.Shooting a .22RF is nothing like shooting a full bore, so, what exactly would you learn from it?

Plausible explanation to myself for buying another gun? Shooting a .22RF is nothing like shooting a full bore, so, what exactly would you learn from it?
I like precision shooting. At the moment this means a trip to Bisley, range fees and expensive ammo. Can't do precision with my MP5 or lever action at the local club so an accurate 22 with scope would be nice. OTOH that MP40 looks pretty nice too....
