The PH Gun Cabinet - Shooting Matters
Discussion
No lottery win, but I'm fairly sure I've an astigmatism. (I'm astigmatic? Sounds slightly too religious). Red dot sight was very sparkly too me. The prism sight otoh is very nice indeed, so the red dot would have had to be amazing to beat it.
Having had a play, I do think I'll be on the lookout for discounts on a low power optic, though.
In other news, my other project is finally in stock and shipping. Pics when I get it.

Now, what's interesting here is this.
Here's the P80 next to one I 3D printed earlier.
I've no idea how accurate the 3D printed version is, but just from a casual comparison and a 'try to bend it' test, compared to the P80, it deforms about the same. Certainly more strength in it than you'd think (PLA) - I couldn't break it. The features included in both are about the same (one's a G17, the P80 is a G19, so same family), and I wouldn't have any qualms about putting a mag through it. Long term, probably wouldn't be keen, but short term it feels more than adequate.
The 3D print needs some metal inserts (I'm surprised no one is selling then yet - but I've not really looked), but it makes the thing that idiot in the UK got convicted for, completely ridiculous. Admittedly the laws in the 2 countries are very different when it comes to what constitutes a firearm, but both the P80 and the print are much higher quality.
No wonder the feds are getting a bit antsy about 3D printed guns here and are starting to take the polymer 80 and other 80% receivers more seriously.
I've a slide, upper and lower parts kit and magazines on order. Need to chose a barrel and maybe a recoil spring assembly and that's it. I'm trying to make this a completely mail order weapon; I've not bought anything from a store for it.

Not going to lie, that was considerably more of a pain in the arse than it had any right to be, or I expected it to be.
I had issues with every single one of the pins, both the front and read blocks, and a couple of problems with the extractor and the slide lock spring.
Having said that, the second will be a lot easier, now I know exactly what matters and needs to be tweaked. All issues were pretty logical to work through, though if I had to fit all the components to a 3D printed lower...no thanks. Do-able, and it would work, but a considerable balls ache to tweak everything and get it working.
A very interesting exercise and a valuable one, even if it did cost more than a standard Glock; it taught me a lot about how it all works and troubleshooting it. The difficulty will be which one to choose next - the regular G17 clone, or an X19 (compact grip, long slide as opposed to the 19X which is a regular frame with a compact slide). I'm in no rush, but I certainly enjoyed it enough to make another.
The bright eyed among you will notice the lack of sights. I'm wavering between a set of regular (upgraded) sights, or replacing the barrel with a threaded one, paying the tax, putting a can on and getting higher sights to suit. This would rather spoil the design brief, which was 'all from the comfort of my desk', so I might just keep this one regular and suppress the next.

Hello everyone,
First post here (first post for some time anywhere!)
I'm looking for advice on how to sell a shotgun. Gun dealers don't seem to be interested in buying guns for stock. I've tried Guntrader, and Gunstar, but no bites at all.
It's a Beretta Essential O/U, that I bought used a few years ago to take up clay shooting with my son. My son as gone off to university, and we've lost interest in shooting.
I managed to sell my son's 20 bore Webley & Scott through the shooting club, but I'm stuck with the Beretta, which hasn't been used for a couple of years. It's a standard, "beginner level" gun in very good condition, that I thought would be easy to sell.
I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Glock sight installation.
Front sights. 'You may be able to install these with an existing tool, depending on clearance'. Receive sights, look at slide, go on amazon, order tool. $6. No other way to install that. No clearance worth mentioning.
Rear sights. Buy a cut slide and an RMR. This will like add ~$300 to your build. Money well spent. Alternatively, like me, buy sights, spend an evening with a file, vice, hammer and nylon punch. Buy the RMR.
Still, it's done, and completely bought off the internet, no gov't involvement.
Next project is...waiting on funds, and a call to the LGS to check on transfer procedure (do they need me to call them in advance, or do the just call me once it's received...).

Tried the beretta 1301 on Saturday in a PSG comp instead of my magazine fed.
I thought I’d be all John wick quad loading like a champ instead I just threw cartridges all over the floor and had embarrassing times, kept running dry and kept hitting that fking silver button at the wrong time.
Think I’ll go back to the magazines.
