Personally I wear one all season, but I do break out this on occasions (eg Boxing day shoot)

Sounds very reasonable. Hopefully not all bought the day before in Chelsea There's nothing worse than all-the-gear-but-no-idea! You are an experienced shooter, don't worry.
Early season game is small, flighty, nervous and sometimes low. So pick your shots well. Nothing but blue sky behind.
Suggest 30gram No 6 cartridges. It isn't really what you load, it's where you point it. Fibre wads not plastics, because livestock don't like eating plastic wads
Be gracious, safe, smiley, take plenty of drinking water and don't get hammered at lunchtime on the nice booze. Take a brace home and eat them, because that's what game shooting is about
Not all bought before hand,🙂 would only buy fibre wad as the less plastic the better.
don't take any Woodcock, those fellas are not thriving

Exciting people get invited to exciting days!Enjoy your day, apologies if sounding patronising but stay safe, it’s a different experience completely to clays. No-one likes to dress wrong, so ask one of your mates!
I remember my 1st day & not being sure of the etiquette of whether a bird was mine to shoot or my neighbors, 1st drive went & I hadn’t fired a shot!
A mild update from me. Ever since I built the AR, there's been a few bits I've not been 100% on. I mentioned on another thread that I'd bought a few ambi bits - bolt release, selector, mag release. I'd already fitted the mag release, but finally got round to fitting the other bits. Makes control a little more comfortable for me as a lefty.
On a similar vein, I'd not really got completely comfortable with the stock. I'd have liked to have a better cheek rest than that what's basically a thin plastic tube.
I'd not bothered looking into it but the other day there was a post on reddit asking for identification of an AR-15 (it's an AR15, so?). Well obviously there's about as many manufacturers of ARs as there are ARs. This was a L119A2, as used by 'Obi-Wan Nairobi'.
Apparently we don't get world news in the US, or I'd missed this completely the first time around. Probably the later, to be fair. Anyway, there was a completely break down of the components, which was mildly interesting, but I'd no desire to buy a light, tactical or otherwise. Nor a variety of switches, nor different grips, etc. However, the 'LaRue RISR' appealed - a reciprocating inline stock riser, so you can still charge the rifle with the stock collapsed, but more importantly, it's a higher cheek rest. LaRue aren't know for being cheap, so I idly looked it up - $19 on sale. I've not gone from not knowing about something to buying it, so quickly before....
Anyway, I can't see the reciprocating bit being of much use to me, but the larger cheek rest is more comfortable, so well worth $19. 8 screws and some loctite later:

New security guidance has been issued by the Home Office / FELWG to replace the 2005 version.
Anyone with an FAC/SGC renewal or grant coming up should probably check they have everything squared away before the visit.

Hi, hope for a bit of advice on dress code for a Game Day.
I’ve been invited on my 1st Game Day in Nov and I’m really exciting, but I don’t want to make a tit of myself either.
I shoot clays most weekends and I’m a reasonable shoot, but what should I wear to a Game Day.
It’s only a small shoot 100 bird bag and is not a big commercial shoot.
My feeling is to wear moleskins, wellies, shirt & tie, jumper and Barbour.
I don’t want to rock up in full tweed if less informal or vice versa also I don’t have any tweed.
Am I on the right track..
Also, what cartridges should i take size and load, expect the bag to be mixed, pheasant, woodcock etc.
Cheers Andy
If in doubt, ask your host, but you look like you've got it covered (don't forget your hat though).I’ve been invited on my 1st Game Day in Nov and I’m really exciting, but I don’t want to make a tit of myself either.

Re cartridges, 30 gram 6s or 30 gram 5s will do the lot at that stage of the season. Might not be a bad idea to have a couple of non-toxic's around if there's the chance of a duck.
Most important - don't forget the tip to the keeper.
Has anyone had any experience of the Mossberg Hushpower 20g?
I am thinking about getting one as an addition to my 12. Some of the fields we shoot on are close to a few houses. Whilst no one has complained and we are obviously shooting away from the houses. I was thinking that this gun might be a good way of keeping any complaints away.
It would only be used on pigeons, I would still use my 12 for driven stuff.

I've got one but in .410I am thinking about getting one as an addition to my 12. Some of the fields we shoot on are close to a few houses. It's a great little stealth tool for an area we shoot (squirrels in woods) but you can drop pigeons etc at upto 35 yards using magnum no5 cartridges. 20b would probably be better for pigeons at normal sorts of ranges.
I find the 3 shot pump hushpower is great for walking thro woods and taking shots at running or jumping squirrels without emptying the wood of any further wildlife. You can get a quick follow up shot off if needed too. The .410 is tight choked (fixed) and doesn't hit hard at 40 yards so it is what it is really. The light weight and quick action is great. Hold value well also.

No experience with that, looks interesting though, a moderated shotgun.
My impression is that the people who are going to complain, would complain if you were out there with a .177 or even a spud-gun. But perhaps a quieter report is going to help.
Some people are just anti
You may be right, but the start of shooting season has reminded just how loud it can be. The guns were probably across a field but it sounded like they were by the front door. It has made one of the kids cry in the past - although a bit of warning would have helped rather than just letting rip 30 yards from the house. My impression is that the people who are going to complain, would complain if you were out there with a .177 or even a spud-gun. But perhaps a quieter report is going to help.

I have a Hushpower Baikal .410 (Should have got the Mossberg... ) that barely raises an eyebrow. It does get a lot of interest at the clay ground though.
Does anyone else here shoot black powder revolvers?
Just wondering whether anyone had a view on the use of a filler to bring the ball up to the mouth of the chamber, currently I use semolina in my Colt Walker but as I want to make paper cartridges it would be simpler not to use a filler.
I am also shooting Johnston & Dow conicals, but I think that they are eating my wedge so I am going to revert to balls for the short term until I can make a new wedge from something that doesn't resemble cheese.

Hi
I shoot BP. I use semolina as a filler as do all our BP shooters some of them for a very long time and to quite a high level. Nobody uses enough to bring the ball right to the top, just a few millimetres down. The gap at the top is filled in, in most cases, with the old beeswax/lard cocktail. I use water pump grease as it doesn't melt in the sun.

7 yards off hand square is around an inch. Fired single action.
Double action briskly
