Hoping my club will re-open soon.
Its a perishable skill and having worked quite hard over the years to get my speed up to have such a long break away from the range is going to be painful when it re-opens. The main issue is that it looks like, well I cant see how, the main comps that I shoot in will re-start as they usually have around 30-40 people at the comps.
So trying to get back up to speed is perhaps pointless.
Speed? As in quick draw, or target acquisition and firing? Its a perishable skill and having worked quite hard over the years to get my speed up to have such a long break away from the range is going to be painful when it re-opens. The comps are very competitive and top times are usually separated by only a fraction of a second.

I wonder who it was then. I do remember a long time member from the US had pictures on another thread.
That was likely a guy from Florida. I forgot his name. I think he had a Lotus as well. ETA: that’s it! ErnestM. Thanks. I do not know what became of him but he had an Arsenal. aeropilot said:
I can't see any comps being run by any clubs or organisations during this year
Its just a cluster which ever was you try and do it. Butts parties are going to be impossible at my club as they are so narrow it would be very difficult to do 2m. Plus lifting the frames up and down can need 2 people, everyone would need to wear gloves. Plus its windy as f83k even on a calm day. We have 2 smaller 100 yard ranges one has 10 lanes the other has 5 which don't have butts but this means you would have to still limit the number of shooters and also not used the covered range shooting points which again makes things difficult.
The electronic targets, now that's possible. We only have a few sets though, but still could have 2 shooters on the point and everyone else would have to wait in the car park or something. Then call each pair in one at a time.
The idea of proper open comps is pretty much out the window like you say.
Bet its going to be a glorious summer too!!

Yes, I thought he was from Florida, too. I was shocked the search found it.Pesty said:
Well my shoulder is in quite a lot of pain.
After 300 12g sat down Shooting 300gr hollowpoints @2200fps was not fun.
Pesty, I just purchased a Marlin 1894 with the laminate stock like you have in that pic. Mine is chambered in .357 magnum to match one of my revolvers. Is yours .357 or 45/70??After 300 12g sat down Shooting 300gr hollowpoints @2200fps was not fun.

Go ahead and schedule your shoulder replacement surgery early, that will give the NHS a few years to find you a slot.
Indeed.
I sold on my Norwegian capture K98kF1 pretty soon after buying it a couple of years ago, as the 1950's conversion to 30-06 by the Noggies, made it pretty fkin brutal to shoot, much more so than the original 7.92x57 and far too much for my already damaged shoulder to survive long term.
