Hey folks, i put in my shotgun application 15 weeks ago, in herts/ beds/ cambs and have heard nothing. I hear anecdotally that there’s a huge backlog. Anyone know anything more, or what i might expect? i miss plinking clays nearly as much as i miss the cooked breakfast after!

I had heard a rumour some 6 months ago that Herts/Beds/Cambs had stopped processing all new grant applications for an indefinite period whilst it carried out a review of recent renewals.

I suspect you're not even half way through the process at just 4 months wait so far.

Oh joy! I notice they still happily took my £70 without warning (and ignored my enquiry at the 12 week mark)
Well now i’m going to need a new hobby….

Temporary workaround I guess is for someone you shoot with to keep 'your' gun and bring it with them to wherever you shoot.. Not ideal though as you're bound by their schedule..

I like it. Alas, I’ve not long moved into the area so don’t have any such mates. …I’ve been paying for an instructor each time, which has been great (but it’s tied to a booking schedule, is time-boxed to an hour, and makes the sessions less light-hearted than they would be if i just turned up to dust some discs of a weekend)

Ah yes, you are out in the sticks then….

If you want to have a shoot, you are more than welcome to join us on any of the PH meet and shoots we are running….

Plus either hire a club gun or maybe borrow one ?

I don't post in this section often, just read it.

But have to share this little beauty that I've picked up for just £20.

£20 well spent!!!

That’s very kind, thank you. I’ll do that, will go look at the table in a sec.
Yes, totally happy to hire a gun etc. (I have bought an ATA 12G OU 32”, ‘twas on sale and fitted a dream, it’s at the shop waiting for my license to collect it)

Good afternoon gentlemen.

I just thought I’d share this with you. I don’t shoot live animals myself, I just shoot clays now.

But this guy has a very good YouTube channel, it’s well worth a look .

Simon6ppc.

Have a look. Northern guy just like me self!

How he goes about taking the shot is very informative.

He uses a lot of different kit, not so much shotguns, most rifles.

But jeez he’s mustard on long-range stuff. Especially Fox.

Worth a look.

What Smithy says really, great to meet you , and glad you enjoyed yourself.

Breaking clays, having a laugh, and making new friends is what this is all about, as you have seen today.

We have a nearly full calendar of these meets planned for the year, at locations around the country .

If you want to shoot and enjoy it with like minded folk, come and join us.

Cambridge Gun club is the March venue, date tbc

The last one at Kibworth was a blast, and these are open to everyone, we are very much a mixed ability group, and yes I will be turning up with my silly high rib.
